Question for prospect fans:

Which card would you rather own - the Trout above, or the 2013 Bryant Super Auto?

(Trout for me, all day everyday.)

Neither....I'd rather own complete 1954, 1955, and 1956 Topps sets....which can be easily bought in EX to NM grade for that kind of money......

I'd go with the Trout as well.

Insuring and shipping a $52k package isn't cheap. Likely isn't possible so interesting sale to say the least.

If I paid 52K for a card, I'd pay for an airline ticket & go pick it up from the seller.

Was thinking the same thing...if I sold it I would deliver it in person.

I like Trout and all, but I don't know if I believe that ending price. We'll see if it gets relisted again. But once you get past a certain price point, I think common multipliers for color autos goes out the window. And 5xk is a load of money for any modern card NOT a 1 of 1.

I am a bit skeptical..............You can probably own every MLB HOF baseball card from 1948 on in PSA 3 or better for that price.

Unless Trout ends his career with ruth like numbers, I dont see a roi on this card if that is what the buyer is trying to do. I can somewhat comprehend the huge money for rare jordans but this seems like alot. I would love a trout auto as much as anyone else but i would rather have several mantles and 10 base trouts over this one.

Everyone saying they dont believe the price cuz they will never be able to sell it for more realize not everyone in this hobby are in it for the $$$... Some people collect to collect... And some of those collectors have an extreme amount of $$$ to buy what they like for what ever price they can get it for... There may not be a ton of people like that but they are out there...

That's chump change!
I heard that some people will pay more than a million for a mini card that's trimmed.

I would rather buy up 52,500 ungraded Barry Bonds 1986 Topps Traded cards. Then in 20 years when everyone (even non athletes) is taking HGH........and the Veterans committee puts him in the HOF..........I will make a huge score selling them for 3 bucks each lol.

You Vintage guys drive me NUTS!!! Stop comparing any card you like to super rare modern cards! The Mantle RC equivalent of the Red Trout Auto is the PSA 9 MINT version which has a population of 6! You think you are getting any where near a PSA 9 MINT Mantle Rookie #311 for $52,500?! The PSA 6 that someone recommended has a population of 104, which comps to a Blue Auto 9.5/10, what does one of those run $3500? So 10% of what a Mick goes for? Don't worry guys are cards are safe, relax.

I don't have much to contribute here but just chill about Mike Trout.....

his 2010 Bowman Platinum Prospect card (#PP5) compares him to Johnny Damon.

Yup. Johnny Damon.
