It seems crazy to spend that on a card but I think it's crazy to spend $50K on a car when a $30K car will do essentially the same thing.

Just as an example.
nice comparison

$350 for the yelich '13 Finest auto superfractor. Was more than I wanted to spend, but I want to own EVERY serial #'d yelich auto from that set, and the feat wouldn't really be as cool without the super.

Thanks. It's a VG 3. I also have his first White Sox card too..1916 M101-5 and that's a 6, but I just like the American Caramel so much more.

I don't have money falling out my back side but I've managed to purchase a dozen or more cards in the 200-350 range. Then my Ted Williams sweet spot last month blew the whole thing away at $1,000

$7750 on my 1952 Topps Mantle SGC 1.5. Probably the most I'll ever spend on a single card now that it's locked up in the PC.

This was mine, purchased maybe 25 years ago when I was in the Navy and really had no bills to speak of. It is a PSA 4 and I paid right around $500 for it and was nervous at the time, because I had barely cracked the three digit range before. I have made a few $200+ purchases in subsequent years but I don't really see me spending that much again on a single card. It truly is a hobby for me and spending that kind of money just doesn't make sense, especially with 2 pre-teen boys quickly approaching college age! One possible exception might be a 33 Goudey Ruth #181 if I found one in decent condition that displayed well for under a grand.

However, it is easy to spend more that I should across many things/lots (rather than a single item) and the money I have spent across my entire collection over 35+ years is not something I ever seriously think about or try to add up, because if I did I would probably be disgusted!

Recently, other than Huddy RCs, I've gone weeks at a time without a single pickup (plus I box break at most once every 1-2 months), as I save up for high-end... got my second card ever in the $2000s today.

I don't get to vote because I haven't broke the $100 mark yet and don't plan to.

Most expensive one I ever bought was a 1987 Topps Mark McGwire in probably 1989. Think I paid $7.

I have a few on the want list (all vintage football) but none will exceed $100.

The most I spent on baseball was $50 for a Dustin Pedroia museum collection jumbo bat auto 4/5. The most I spent on one card was $130 for a 5 star Peyton Manning auto.

The most money I have spent? $119 on a box of 2008 Sweet Spot. Pulled a Longoria rookie autograph, and a Brandon Phillips glove auto /30, both decent cards in 2008. But I still had regrets, because my family wasn't doing so hot financially at the time. I still have issues with making purchases, and it's a blessing that I have the collection I do with the funds that I've spent, because I've really gotten lucky with trading things at the right time or buying lots that have good stuff in them.

$325 for the Sonny Super. Probably an irresponsible purchase when I made it. Used BML and sold off a lot of Matt Olson USA to pay it off after he forewent his chance to play at Vandy.

$300 for a Price game used jersey. Lots in the 75-125 range. Second highest was probably the Casali super auto from Platinum or the Ziomek non auto super. I think both were around $130 each?

Oddly now that I have the financial wherewithal to pay more, I am much less inclined to. Weird huh?

I like this thread, so I will throw mine out there and bump it. I paid $1.5K for a Roman Reigns Superfractor auto, which I recently sold for $2K. I know its a wrestling card and not baseball but I am waiting for a Joe Jackson or Cobb Cracker jack card to pop up and that will be my new biggest buy.

I never really spent more than 100 bucks for a card. I think the most expensive card I bought was either a 2007 Sweet Spot Sig of Calvin Johnson for 75 or a Frank Gifford Dual Jersey auto for 75.
