Default Top #10 Baseball Cards of All Time

Edit:

Let's make a draft. You get to pick any 10 cards in history of the hobby. You name your card, along with a scan. This way, we would all see some of the nicest cards ever made. The ultimate show off collection if you will. You can put a monetary value next to it if you like with recent completed sales. Voters will vote on who they think has the nicest collection of baseball cards.

What is your list for the Top #10 Baseball Cards of All Time?

Let's make this draft-like so you can't choose cards already named ! Open to all though.

2009 Bowman Chrome Freddie Freeman superfractor autograph will be the holy grail of all baseball cards by the time he finishes his career. Nobody will even second guess it.

This is not a bad idea. A draft where you get 10 cards for your collection. And we can vote at the end for who has the best collection

Sorry if it's a dumb question...

But why the 1952 Topps

My list:

Mantle 51 Bowman - I know Topps is preferred but I want his first card

1955 Topps Roberto Clemente RC - Another true Legend

1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson - Breaking the Color Barrier

1964 Topps Pete Rose (I just dont like the 1963 Version) - Hit King

1968 Topps Nolan Ryan RC - one of the greatest pitchers ever

1989 Griffey RC - Iconic Card has to be included

1909 T209 Honus Wagner RC - still considered the Holy Grail of Baseball Cards

1933 Goudey Babe Ruth RC - Gotta have the Bambino

1909 American Carmel Shoeless Joe RC - His Story alone is legendary

Pujo's Chrome Auto - Set the Standardard for Modern Day RC autos

I've obmitted Mantle and Gehrig, as I didnt go necessarily for value. I also think Ripken and Boggs get Honorable Mentions

Because it has become a part of American pop culture and when that occurs price explodes. Take the t206 Honus Wagner as an example. At 60-100 existing copies it is not particularly "ultra rare" in relation to other Pre-War issues. (I can name you at least two other t206 cards with much lower populations than the Wagner and that's without turning to especially difficult backs.) Yet, if you asked a sample of Americans who don't collect to name one baseball card 99% would state the Wagner or the 1952 Topps Mantle if any.

That being said I believe the 1951 Bowman is vastly underrated and as more and more collectors are priced out of a 52 Topps example (currently with a $5k buy-in and rising) the Bowman will grow by leaps and bounds.

Solid list, we mostly agreed but I'd drop the T3 Cobb for the Just So Cy Young. The T3 could be the most aesthetically pleasing card set ever released, but outside of the Wagner there are only four cards that if auctioned today would require at least a million dollars to be a contender: the three PSA 10 Mantles and the lone Just So Cy Young.
