ebay might be able to help but the seller might lose his money.

So basically your cards got Jacked, and they stuck that generic 'Sorry your mail was damaged' slip in there? That's basically robbery without consequence.

All you can really do is request a refund and if its not given open up a paypal claim. Unfortunate for the seller if it had some nice cards in there that he didn't insure as he will now be SOL

Yes it looks as though the bottom of the envelope was just straight up ripped open.

And yes I got a nice little "FU" bag from the usps, what a kick in the junk... bad enough they are thieves, they also send me my empty package with a /..... duh im sorry note .....

Sorry to see that happen.

In Australia, they usually won't deliver busted mail, and when you ask the post office, all you get is someone shrugging their shoulders with a dumb look on their face.

The seller is responsible for the cards getting to you even in cases where the USPS damages the packages. They are the ones who contacted with the USPS for sending the package on their behalf. Paypal considers this to be SNAD and will force the seller to refund. Ebay would also say the seller is to refund. The bad part is to get the refund you may be forced to return the empty package.

its a shitty situation to say the least. However, IMO, it is a risk of SELLING, not a risk of buying. It is the sellers responsibility to deliver the product to you. Until it is in your possession, they need to pony up the refund.

that sucks - no one will win...

I wonder why the package doesn't look like it was sealed normally, it doesn't look like it was folded over very far to seal and then is ripped by what looks like a weedwhacker???

Looks like it got wet..happens all the time. That's why people tape all the edges. No telling what happened to the cards.

Yeah, I always ship in a poly envelope over the bubble mailer to avoid that kind of thing.

Cards probably ended up on a sorting room floor and either trashed or put in a pile for a later sale at a recovery auction.

Insurance for the most part is a joke. they almost always find a way to get out of pying. I once had a package get run over by a vehicle had a tire track on it the insurance was declined because "the item was not packed well enough to withstand normal handing" Since when is running over a package with a vehicle normal handling?

Even if it was insured the insurance is for the sellers protection, they are obligated to refund the buyer regardless o if insurance pays or not.

No insurance
I feel super bad

Serial numbers on most of the cards so will be keeping an eye out on the bay .

The envelope was not wet. The paper is normal the bottom is ripped off, the EXACT way I open packages filled with cards since usually we all tape the crap out of these things.

I 99% believe RICKSAM
Tis' the season to be a scumbag thief ....

This seems to be happening A LOT lately. This is about the 6th one I've seen of these in the last few weeks and I'm not on here but a few times a week.

I had the same thing happen to me a couple weeks back with a lower end football card except I was the seller. The envelope was sent back to me. I emailed the buyer with a picture of the damaged envelope and let him know what happened and promptly refund the buyer. He wasn't happy but could see by the tracking that I did what I was supposed to. Fortunately the card was under $10 so it was not a big loss on my end. Unfortunately for you OP, it is a big lose-lose for both you and the seller and there is little, if any recourse.

Yeah , insurance is definitely a for sure thing transactions over 50 bucks these days

It sucks I miss out on my cards especially since one was a lower number PC card

And I feel terrible for the position the seller is in. Although insurance should have been purchased. We should still expect some kind decent service we pay for, especially from the government ...... well on second thought, scratch the decent service from a government entity remark ....

I think that volume sellers have determined the cost of insurance outweighs their annual loss rate and assume the occasional hit.
Hopefully the rest goes far more smoothly for you than whatever happened to that envelope.

I'm not saying this would be a solution to every time this happens, but in my opinion, I wouldn't ever ship anything with eBay name on packages like this

Just makes it easier targets for clowns to steal, they see the eBay name and if they have any clue on what kind of stuff is mailed like that......boom
