Yes, I don't think the A's were going to actually spend that slot money anyway and I'm not sure what else they could get for it. ?

Ike comes to Arizona, works out with some new hitting coaches, the A's see what happens. Sometimes that works out. It's not like they anointed him their Opening Day 1B already.

Having grown up with Beane, I can say that a lot of A's fans who've seen the vast majority of his moves rather than just the moneyball rah-rah and headline-grabbing narratives are not really fans of his work. Could it be worse? Sure. Could it be better? Hells yes.

never have understood the hate for Ike Davis either, people thinking he's garbage or is some horrible player. He's a guy that hits well and hits for good power against righties, struggles with left handers, has a decent OBP. His numbers are very much like what the A's gravitate towards. Players who's OBP is usually about .100 higher than their average. For his career against right handers he hits a home run on average once every 21.4 at bats

The best move the Brewers savvy General Manager, Doug Melvin, has ever done, was not trade for Ike Davis in my opinion. We were close once I believe.
