This deserves a bump. Newsroom is in its third and final season, and I will say that this is one the greatest shows I've ever watched.

I actually started watching it a few days ago. I'm on the 6th episode and I love it so far.

If this scene from the first 10 minutes of the first episode EVER doesn't sell you on why you should watch it, you are missing out. NSFW (language)

Is it really that good? I have HBO ondemand so I could binge watch the show if I wanted.

Yes. I have never seen the show, but someone showed me this clip. Man, I don't like to discuss politics and all, but that clip hit on a lot of issues

It had me hooked from the opening scene. Don't let Dumb and Dumber fool you, Jeff Daniels is extremely talented. It is really hard not to binge watch this show. Character development, writing and storyline are all intricately and amazingly crafted.

Plus, it doesn't hurt that I have a huge man crush on Aaron Sorkin's mind.

Well turns out you were right, this show is very well written. I just finished the first two seasons and now that I have really gotten into it I am sad that this will be the final season. This feels like a show that could have ran for a lot more than 3 seasons.

I know, I'm pissed as well. Sorkin's last two risky shows have been amazing, "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and "The Newsroom" are both amazing and both cut years too short.

I was hooked by Will's speech as linked above but the characters and behind the scenes look into what I believe to be a very realistic representation of the modern news machine keep me riveted. Still hoping there is some way this show doesn't end.

The fact that Sorkin is working on a Steve Jobs biopic has me salivating.

Was The West Wing a good show? I've contemplated watching it.

Yes, at least the first 4 seasons...Sorkin stopped writing for it after that.

I thought they scrapped the Jobs biopic?

Love this show. Really sad it's ending after this season (and only six new episodes).

The West Wing, Studio 60 and now The Newsroom...I really love Sorkin's shows. I know they aren't for everyone, and people complain about his writing a lot...but I absolutely love the fast paced dialogue and the topics and issues that are constantly being addressed.

Unfortunately his shows aren't your average American's cup of tea, and they get cut short. I was really bummed that Studio 60 lastly only a season (REALLY underrated...I think people thought it was supposed to be fall out of your seat funny), and really upset the Newsroom is being cut short as well.

I loved the opening scene in episode one, the runner up being the episode when Gabrielle Giffords was shot. There have been some amazing moments on that show.

Just finished the first season. The show is OK. The first couple episodes we really good but then they started going downhill. I will probably finish out the series since it is ending this season but don't have huge expectations for season 2 or 3.

My beef with the show is that for a show about a news cast with no political bias there is obviously a liberal bias in the show. I googled Aaron Sorkin and he is a Democrat so it makes sense.

I actually read this quote from Sorkin -
“I'm a registered Republican, I only seem liberal because I believe that hurricanes are caused by high barometric pressure and not gay marriage.”

That's a quote from Will McEvoy from the show.

From his Wikipedia page:

Quote:
A consistent supporter of the Democratic Party, Sorkin has made substantial political campaign contributions to candidates between 1999 and 2011, according to CampaignMoney.com.
Again I could care less about what his political affiliation is but it's just annoying how slanted the show is. I love Jeff Daniels and that's pretty much the only reason I'm still watching.

I don't see as much a slant. I see the show targeting a few crazies on the right and illuminating important topics not covered by most media outlets.

Yeah that makes more sense because I read that he donated money to an anti Bush campaign and a Generation Obama campaign. Also, now that I've started watching the West Wing it is pretty clear that he is a Democrat.

Although, I'm with you. As a libertarian myself I still find his writing very humorous and absolutely love the Newsroom. The West Wing is also a great show and I'm able to get past the fact that it's a show about Democrats. To be honest I don't care much for politics anyway...which is why I'm surprised I enjoy these shows.

I found it hard to really buy into. This might not make sense but the show seems too "written" or scripted. The non-news dialogue is completely unrealistic. People just don't interact with each other in that way, especially in a work place. I will go away before the Sorkin jock-sniffing cultists bust out their pitchforks and torches.

If you're watching the show because you expect a realistic account of a Newsroom, you're doing it wrong

I'm assuming they will bring Neil back for the final show, and Will will somehow save the network from being completely taken over by "new media".

The last episode apparently caused a bit of controversy because of the college rape storyline. I just didn't see it. I thought Sorkin actually wrote a good woman character for once in that episode. Then again, those who were complaining were mainly people working in the mainstream media whom Sorkin likes to take down on a weekly basis so....
