Amazing how fast these five episodes have flown by. I can't wait for the spin off show to start. That'll give us 32 weeks a year of Walking Dead, totally fine with that.

That was an awesome episode!

One thing is a given every week, mindbinge will find something to complain about every episode. He should just stop watching the show if he thinks it is going downhill so much. It would save the headache of being disappointed every week.

stfu...just my opinion on the way they focus on one set of characters, if you don't agree then that's fine. I hardly ever complain about anything, but there are a few things this season that I don't like.

I thought they should have told more about why Abraham's family was looking at him like he was a monster...and left him a note that said "don't try to follow us"...seems like an odd thing for your family to do don't you think? people who don't know the comic probably didn't get that part or know what was really going on there...but, Abraham cleared it all up on Talking Dead...i think in an episode like this they should have done so within the episode.

The reports are that this episode was close to being cut by the network censors due to its violence. They may have had to tone that part down or out to get it even aired.

Settle down Francis...no sense in getting a good thread deleted.

Many people have not read the comic so I am not sure why that keeps coming up. This thread is about season 5 so let's just stick with that. When people try to compare two different, but similar things it can get off track.

I am/was a little confused on this also. Having not read the comics and not getting Talking Dead over here in NZ; I was left wondering why they had just fled from Abraham so quickly. Leaves a few unanswered questions for me if Abraham had done something like this this before. They did not appear to be really capable of fending for themselves to make such a rash decision to take-off like they did.

The Walking Dead Episode That Was Almost Banned By AMC

Seriously? If that's actually true (which wouldn't surprise me) that's really stupid considering we've had Rick chew a man's neck off, Hershel decapitation, and countless other things many would consider worse. And that's only from Walking Dead.

so, when you have to explain to the non-comic reader in the room what was going on in the Abraham flashback, then the show didn't do a very good job with it. I think mindbinge has a point. No mention of any rape or anything to at least make it clear why Abraham went HAM on those guys. I agree that it was poorly done and extremely vague. My girlfriend was like "who were those people and why did they just leave him?".

i DID, however, enjoy the fact that they showed Eugene being the one that stopped Abraham from killing himself, which is a cool addition to the lore. Makes things go full circle since Abraham has been keeping him alive the entire show.

I thought last weeks episode was the same way...it left a lot of the Beth mystery of what is going on out there just kind of assuming you knew what was up...or at least I thought it was sort of confusing?

Maybe they will come back to some of this stuff later on, but they seem to be purposely dancing around anything dealing with rape for some reason? Maybe that's just where they draw the line, I don't know.

Didn't they get some flack for the Maggie-Governor scene and even hinting that it perhaps took place? Guess it's too touchy a subject but glad he mentioned it on the Talking Dead.

Rape is what the censors are focusing on as going too far. They did catch a lot of heat on the Maggie scene for even hinting at it. I am willing to bet they filmed it and had to cut it for it to be shown.

right, but with the Beth issue, you at least knew what was going on. in the Abraham flashbacks, there is no whiff of what was happening, just Abraham going nuts.

I totally agree. It just opens up with Abraham beating someone to death with a tomato can. There really wasn't any color around why he did it so it made his families actions look justified rather than a bit irrational as it was in the comics. Abraham looks like a cold blooded killer in that scene in the show. I wonder if they got handcuffed on what they could include and hoped that between Talking Dead, comic readers, and people going to the internet looking to see what happened in the comics, they hoped people in the end would understand why Abraham did what he did.

As someone who read the comics though, it didn't bother me one bit. I just can see why it may have confused people or rubbed them the wrong way.

I was confused as hell as someone who doesn't get Talking Dead here in New Zealand or read the comics at all! And still would be if I had not seen the comments in this thread about what was mentioned in the Talking Dead.

yeah- i suspect the threats of censoring maybe removed any allusion to the rape aspect in that scene. Except, in the previous episode, it was made pretty clear what that one cop was doing to the women.

no consistency.

Beth(17 in season 2) and the other girls are also assumed of age and then again it did not show it, just led you to believe it, like the Governor and Maggie. Who knows what the issue was, but I believe it was something to do with the rape of the children.

This describes how TV shows and movies get their ratings. Basically throw a dart and whatever it lands on, that's what rating it gets. I can't imagine the stress someone has when submitting a TV show or movie to a ratings board.

Agreed. Consistency is pretty bad! Plus as mentioned there was the Maggie and Governor scene; and also at the end of S4 with Karl looking like it was going to happen to him also (by the guy that Rick beat to death as well).

I remember reading an article where Seth Rogen basically said they threw a bunch of vulgar #@#@#@#@ in the original cut of This Is the End, banking on the MPAA taking out the worst of the worst and leaving in the stuff they wanted, like the giant Devil's dong, and the implied demon rape scene.

that whole thing is a scam.

hehe.

i will say, the guy they got to play Eugene is one of the best casting choices from comic to show. Shane was also cast well.

Andrea and Carol, not cast so well.

Glenn? they all look alike *SARCASM*
