What a clown. Deactivating his Facebook account tells you all you need to know about him. For some reason though, I don't think this is the last we will hear of him. We should keep an eye on his ebay account.

Now here is a theory I have totally based on nothing but what I think at this point.

*Guy bought a reprint and knew it
*Listed it on craigslist to sell to an unsuspecting buyer
https://reno.craigslist.org/clt/4666936243.html
*News contacted him or in a moment of stupidity he contacted the news
*Story blew up and was debunked on day 1 he had no idea people would figure this out that fast
*He went down with the ship and card was never sent to SGC

True, if it was even sent in.

I can see SGC staff coming to work early to get this baby. Throwing boxes around looking for the "Jason Mars" package. LOL.

I doubt it left the Mars home.

I wonder if perhaps there is a way to get in touch with SGC to see if it did in fact make it there.

Not joking.

I just called SGC and asked a legit question about a upcoming submission, and then I said, "Hey did you guys recently grade a T206 Wagner?". He chuckled and said, "yeah it was submitted to us, but it wasn't graded." I said "really?". He said " yeah, it was a terrible, terrrible fake."

I said "that's what we figured" and thanked him.

And anyone who knows me on here knows this post isn't BS.

I want to add, this guy at SGC knew exactly what card I was talking about. When he chuckled and said "Yeah, IT was submitted..."
The laugh and the way he said "it" told me he has been talking to folks about it today.

i'm not concerned with the dude so much as i am with the smug reporter SOB who continually stuck his own foot in his mouth on twitter trying to defend his poor excuse for a feature. any word from him yet?

haha, went to the station FB page to see if they responded to your comment (they didn't) and followed through to Elias Johnson's page where he wonderfully brags about turning in the story all by himself in only 3 hours! hilarious! i didn't know journalism was such a race to the bottom.

EDIT: i decided to comment and ask him if there will be a follow up as well.

Elias Johnson responded to my comment his FB page, fwiw... "I've been informed that details will be released tomorrow. I'm just as anxious as everyone else to hear the results."

Since I live in the same town as this guy, I've been following the story closely and ran across this thread. I'm also an avid collector and am anxiously awaiting word. I did email Jason from the Craigslist page asking how much he wanted for the card, but no response just yet.

Why would you offer money for a reprint?

So I guess this is over huh? Jason is trying to vanish. That is pretty low. He boasts, and boasts, and boasts about his card being authentic, and when things don't go his way, he can't even man up to it. Pathetic.
