Saying they should have known it would back up to iCloud, saying they shouldn't be taking these photos, or saying they are celebrities they somewhat deserve it is incredibly odd to me. I think it's safe to say that there are a lot of people who have done something in their past that they'd like to keep private. What if those secrets came out?

Also keep in mind how many of us use Apple products, everyone does realize that odds are good iCloud was hacked to get these. That doesn't worry anyone? It worries me, I changed my passwords for iTunes this morning just to be safe.

There is a huge difference between stealing credit card information and posting nude photos. That's like saying there is no difference between speeding and vehicular manslaughter. Just because both are illegal doesn't mean they are equal.

If I steal your credit card info you think the FBI will get involved? Think I'll get years in prison? Don't think so. This is a far more serious crime than people want to think. It is simply convenient to think it isn't a big deal. It gives people an excuse to carry on.

It's possible that hackers got into their photo stream on iCloud they could have have gotten into other things. I saw some people saying you should sell off Apple stock which is a bit ridiculous unless you have other reasons besides this incident. On the other hand, they should probably look into this a bit more and make it more readily apparent that when taking photos on your iPhone, it will upload them to iCloud unless you turn it off.

Nope, just like the FBI wouldn't get involved if you stole my nekkid pics either. The FBI is getting involved because, A) this is a multi-person, large scale theft of information, and B) because those who are being affected are celebrities. Now, if you were getting my credit card info along with several others with your band of hackers, then yeah, the FBI will get involved.

I do agree that these people should be prosecuted and that these celebrities shouldn't have had there private photos stolen.

Odd timing. Right around the time the FBI got involved.

Do people really think these hackers are people the government wants working for them? I doubt this hack was all that sophisticated. I also wonder if this will hurt business for Apple products?

Doubt it. SONY PSN network was hacked a year or so ago and now they have the best selling system.

Also I wouldn't say it cooled down when there never was a plan and they released screen caps of a "supposed " JLAW video. Those pictures would are worse than most

I agree in theory, but I just can't believe these people are stupid enough to post these "private moments" on the internet...especially someone like Jennifer Lawrence who seems to have a good head on her shoulders.

Gawker has a series of posts up about it, reading through them now.

My guess is the simpler ring version...if you've ever been on these boards before you know those anons are the most unorganized, random people, but when they see tits or a possibility for 'win' they line up and organize. Bunch of them saw an opening, somehow got a few pictures and they built on from there. Some guy according to gawker was trying to trade celebrity pictures for another girl's personal pictures over a week ago so got leaked then.

If it was one person we'd be seeing this on TMZ first.
