Default Tyson Chandler going to the Mavs (Again)

The Mavericks are close to reacquiring Tyson Chandler in a trade with the Knicks, according to ESPN.com.
The Knicks would get back Sam Dalembert, Jose Calderón, and Shane Larkin in this blockbuster deal.

Let the break up begin

I like this trade from the prospective of an IP grapher. The knicks are a good signing team and I would love to get autos from those players. Other than that who cares neither one of those teams are going to make any noise for the foreseeable future.

That was a trade just to make a trade. Really no impact either way. Chandler is the best player in the deal. Felton is awful.

I think the Knicks win in this deal.. A starting PG and C in one deal.

Must not have watched much NBA this year, huh? Mavs took the Spurs to 7. They can absolutely make noise this season with a move or 2.

Great trade for the Mavericks, trading spare parts for Chandler? Yes please

Calderon helps the Knicks obviously but this is making them worse.

The Mavs won a title with Tyson just 3 years ago. Great move for them, IMO.

As a Mavs fan, I'm very happy with this.

Not really giving up too much.

The deal was meant to replace Dalembert who has been so inconsistent and somewhat of a headcase all season long. Getting Chandler is a HUGE upgrade and he obviously fits in well to the Mavs system as apparent from a few years ago

Calderon was a great 3-point shooter, but his lack of aggression to the rim was reminiscent of Steve Nash. He was equally as liable on defense as Nash.

Larkin is just too small to play NBA ball IMO. Aggressive player, but too much like a poor man's Jose Barea.

I'm very happy if this goes through, not giving up any cash and getting back a KEY piece to a championship team.

I'd go as far as saying if this trade took place mid-season this past season, the Mavs would have beat the Spurs and likely been NBA champs again...

I like this deal for both teams. Larkin has the potential to start for NY, and they badly need a PG. Dallas needed one or 2 more peices to win this year, and Chandler can be a defensive rock. Granted, they need to win now, with Dirk, Carter, and company not getting any younger.

The Knicks are in nba purgatory.
Smart move for the Mavs but I think they need another scorer in order to compete for a second title.

That said, I didn't think they had the talent to win their last title either.

Bold statement. Also, its J.J. Barea. Not Jose.

My definition of blockbuster is clearly not the same as others.

This trade makes no sense to me if I'm the Knicks.

So I'm taking back the 3 years and 22 million that is still owed to Calderon when I should be clearing every penny off my books for next years FA class?

I like it for Dallas. Even if Chandler doesn't pan out he's an expiring contract.

As bold as a die-hard Mavs fan can be, but I believe every bit of it.

And it is Jose Barea, actually. Full name = Jose Juan Barea (J.J. Barea)

Maybe they think they can get FAs at discount price because IT IS NEW YORK CITY, BABY!

Haha that is always the theory I suppose - at least if you listen to New Yorkers.

I do love that fact that potentially (depending on if options are exercised - both team and player) that the only players the Knicks could have on their roster in 2015-16 would be Calderon, Hardaway, Larkin and Prigioni

I guess that's one way to start over.

Great job to wait extra year to start over...

Anyway, I do think Dalembert is a great bargain for his number. Only $3 mil.

Felton was signed on for the same amount of years as Calderon just 4 million per year less. WE will still have a bunch of cap space for next year.

They traded Felton's 4 mil he was due in 15-16 for calderons 7 mil. Not a huge deal, and if you have to be stuck with one I think it's obvious who you'd rather be stuck with... Currently the Knicks only have 12 mil worth of contracts on the books that year, with Felton. So that's around 15 mil w Calderon. Basically only Calderon and JR smith. Which will be movable on contract years anyways. But either way they'll have plenty of cap space, and I have to believe Phil has a plan. Now at least they have a pg for now and possibly for the future. Dalembert isn't chandler but he's serviceable. I love Tyson but he's obviously on the decline and when he's banged up is a liability. I'm for this deal.
