For information, and for anyone with really deep pockets, the Black Prizm World Cup Star Cristiano Ronaldo insert is up on ebay:

2014 Panini Prizm FIFA World Cup Stars Cristiano Ronaldo Black Prizm 1 of 1 | eBay

With that starting price, it's going to be really interesting to see how much it will get. Considering a Pirlo Black Prizm got in the region of $3,000, I'd imagine this one should fetch $4,000, maybe even more.....

I would think it will go for just under $5K. Although as a buyer, I would be a bit worried about it coming from such an inexperienced seller.

Did Panini ever put out odds for the cards? They are not on the packs or the boxes. Would like to know how many cases they produced and how rare are the Prizm cards.

Panini withholding cards from their product and now trying to compete with their own customers by selling singles. Disgusting. You should be ashamed if you buy these.

No surprise here. They have been holding back hits for years yet the sheep continue to buy from Panini. The most crooked company going that has a license.

They never advertised these before so I see no problem with them releasing 'em now. If they'd advertised them as possible box/case hits and then withheld them it'd be different IMO.

In any case I don't care for 1/1's that are not truly unique so probably won't be buying these.

Exactly! These are bonus exclusives. They weren't "held back". They're newly created cards.

Newly created cards? It's still 2014 prizm World Cup and it's just a cash grab. If I buy bowman baseball cards, topps doesn't release bowman singles on eBay a month later that were never packed out. It's unethical and bad for the hobby.

They did the same thing with the Pylon parallels for prizm last years football.

I like these, plan on bidding on a few

Topps releases "vault" 1/1s of base cards though....so they are just as guilty.

what you guys that think this is ok don't realize is this...

they just doubled the 1/1s on the market for prizm. now they are 1/2. destroys the market quite a bit. that's why this is a very very shitty thing for them to do but it's clear they dont give a crap about collector's or the people that buy their crap

My guess is even if there are two or three or four or five copies of Neymar Jr "1/1s" out there, each one will command a huge price tag. Collectors like 1/1 stamps and with a global audience I am certain these will do fine. Cristiano Ronaldo could have ten 1/1s and each would sell for crazy money, just like the hundreds of Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson 1/1s that each sell for big dollars.

Football/Baseball/Basketball have hundreds of products, each with tons of 1/1s.

For MANY of the players in this World Cup set, these will be their ONLY 1/1s sporting their country's uniforms. Having an extra couple 1/1s, in that scenario, is better for the hobby IMO. Not worse.

I don't think it's wrong that these cards were produced as 1/1's. But Panini are definitely looking out for themselves in that they are selling these individually instead of inserting them into the pack. Panini could have given the collectors who purchased their products more of a chance of pulling one of these 1/1 cards to put in their collection or to sell themselves to maybe pick up more of their favourite players but instead they are filling their own wallet. They are in the business to make money and the product sold out without those cards being inserted so they played the profit making plan very well

Interesting points. Don't disagree with you on everything. But as a collector, I have a very tiny tiny chance of pulling one of these 1/1s. Even though some of these may go for big bucks, if I like a specific player or country I could end up winning one of those 1/1s for a smaller amount of money than busting tons of boxes and hoping they end up on eBay. I completely get the point some people are making that the product would have been better if all these 1/1s were inserted into the packs, but at the same time, I kinda enjoyed the pylon auctions because I got to win my Josh Gordon 1/1 in pristine condition, straight from Panini, for only 120 bucks. Who knows how long I would have had to wait to find a Gordon Prizm 1/1 and how much a collector would have charged on ebay (BIN $395 or something absurd, for sure.) My point is just that there is good and bad no matter which way they do it. I personally would have been happy if they were packed out in the main product since I bought a bunch of boxes and it would have increased my chances of pulling a 1/1...but at the same time, I am stoked I may have the chance of buying one of these 1/1s of more obscure players for (possibly) pretty cheap. If the card is going into my PC, that could be a big win! And one that I probably couldn't have obtained if the cards were packed out.

I completely see where you are coming from. I'm a big Villa collector and there are many 1/1's that have not shown up that I would love to own and if they were held back and auctioned like this I would have a chance to own them at market value not what the seller perceives the price to be and with this set being much more expensive to collect I see how it can be even harder. But I find it hard to believe that this was Panini's intention when deciding to do this, the fact that they are releasing these during the world cup when prices will be at their highest screams money money money to me. Maybe I'm wrong and Panini did this for collectors to get a chance to get a card of a specific player and I hope they did but it's just my opinion that it's not their intention

Why is this 1/1 listed by two different sellers?

2014 Panini World Cup Prizm Black Finite Prizms Rui Patricio 155 1 1 Portugal | eBay

2014 Prizm World Cup Rui Patricio Black Finite 1 1 Portugal Amazing | eBay

It seems to be the same seller with 2 accounts. If you look at the Ozil auto both are selling the signature is identical on both and both are #16/25. I guess he is leaving the buy it now up there in the hopes someone will snatch it at that price before the auction listing ends. I'm sure doing this is against ebay policy?

They haven't got "1of1" stamped on the back though. What's to stop them making more once they've sold these. The black PRIZM cards from packs have the foil stamp on the back.

According to the auction descriptions, they are stamped 1/1 on the back

Come on Sergio, do you really think they did this for collectors? They did it to squeeze every possible cent out of soccer fans. It was a pure cash grab and it's unethical to release singles of a product directly on eBay 1 month after releasing said product.
