Best Deployment story: Was deployed in Bosnia during Operation Joint Forge, E4 at the time attatched to 3rd Special Forces Group. We had our own compound on the base, own laundry mat and maid service. The best part was the every one wore sterile uniforms with concealed 9mm's and we drove 50 thousand dollar land cruisers while every one else walked. I remember driving to the PX and seeing a full bird colonel walking with his laundry. Oh yeah tax free and hazourd duty pay. And I reinlisted at a blown up castle.

Not that I have anything against our Army or anything, but why on earth were our tax dollars paying for 50k land cruisers?

Almost all of the afghans drive Mercedes and they thought Chevy was luxury so i dont think they are paying those prices for them in different areas

MOS: 13B Field Artillery
Best Deployment Story: After 9-11, my unit was picked to do homeland security and we had to guard Newport Chemical Depot. It's where VX gas and hard water was made back in the day. VX gets even more lethal as it ages. It was stored in bunkers, and they were currently in the process of building a facility to break down the VX. Anyways, we worked 12 hour shifts (7am to 7pm, or 7pm to 7am) for 7 days in a row, then you'd get 2 days off or something.

Anyways, there was foot patrols to do, some were in bunkers around the VX watching, and some were on vehicle patrols in Hummers around the entire complex. You'd switch every 3 or 4 hours.

So, after a while bordem starts and we decided to play a little Nomad Jousting. This consists of us taking the LONG antennas off the Humvees. 2 Humvees would face each other from a ways away, and one person would be turret holding onto the antenna. The 2 Humvees would drive towards each other, and the guys up top would have a jousting match. We were wearing our body armor and helmets so we didn't get too hurt. It didn't feel good though.

I have a lot more stories from that deployment.

Best deployment story: I watched some Iraqi's chop (well saw really) the head off a live sheep and dip their hands in the blood, then put handprints all over a newly aquired helicopter to give thanks. Pretty gnarly to watch, but entertaining.

The Team guys lived in houses off post. We had to go out and resupply them, fix the computers, house sit etc. We had to have dependable non military vehicles, so they chose the landcuisers.

Not really interested in a package of any kind but thank you for doing this.

Best deployment story was probably a flight in Afghanistan when I witnessed the circle of life. Got additional tasking to recover an Angel, and received even more tasking to pick up a female with high NATO standing that was in labor and ended up giving birth in my helicopter. Life and death on one 9 hour night flight.

I honestly thought all the staff jobs and S-shops were staffed by the "Hey you!" method.
I've seen a lot of guys get plucked(usually against their will) from line companies to work desk jobs, so I just assumed it was O.J.T. for Grunts, Engineers, Arty guys etc. to fill those positions. It's good to know they have actual MOS for that stuff.

On the Iranian border so we had to have 24 hour guard on the vehicles to ready to go at any time, well it was hot as hell obviously and we get a call on the radio of Some Iraqi planting an IED at the border crossing

Run out to the vehicles and my driver opens up the door #@#@#@#@ing vehicle guard is jacking off in my seat, let me rephrase that. Guy is finishing jacking off in my seat, this dude is screaming oh my god what the #@#@#@#@ as he is startled and climaxing at the same time. I start screaming wtf, the platoon sergeant is screaming at him to get his #@#@#@#@ing #@#@#@#@ on we got to go. This guy is in shock and puts on his vest and starts running around with his dick still out his pants. All of a sudden our LT yells out "put your #@#@#@#@ing dick in your pants you #@#@#@#@ing f***ot" I am trying to wipe this #@#@#@#@ off. Platoon sergeant turns to me and says "Sorry doc, you have to sit in that #@#@#@#@. That's your seat. then winks at me" Went out sitting in jizz and turns out guy planting an IED was digging a hole to take a #@#@#@#@.

I have another one about the guy who was jerking it and just as funny......

Great deployment stories folks... keep em' coming. Laughed my arse off at melletted....

Oh, and so you know about me...
Branch: US Air Force
Dates of Service: 9 Jun 02 - 25 Sep 12; standing by for USAFR appt.
Rank at separation/current: O3
MOS/AFSC: 14N3 - Military Intelligence (the great oxymoron)
Best Deployment story:
So I deployed in support of the AF Security Forces squadron (Cops). We were invited by our counterparts on another base for dinner with AFOSI (like CSI for you CIVs). Anyways, they had made dinner for us, Iraqi BBQ style... realize this is my 1st deployment to SWA (Southwest Asia)... so i'm going down the chow line and pick up some meat. Looks like good ol' fashion USDA grade crap meat they sell at the commissary. Next, I pile on some stuff that looks like canned salsa (maybe like Pace Picante or something). Finally, I saw "mashed potatoes" and got me two scoops, because I love mashed taters!

Finally sit down and start eating... take a huge ol' bite of my "beef"... "hmm, that tastes flipin weird"... next, have some "salsa". Tastes nothing like salsa... more like a bunch of tomatoes.... finally, oh yea, can't wait to eat my "mashed potatoes"... and you have no idea how excited I am to eat em. Take a huge ol' bite and just about gag eating it. Needless to say, I ate it all anyways to not offend our Iraqi 'terps.

We're leaving the compound and my NCO says... "did anyone else think those were some f'd up mashed potatoes?" My supervisor (O4) says, what are you talking about? That was lamb, field fresh tomatoes, and humus. My response... "yea, I was eating and thinking these are some #@#@#@#@ed up mashed potatoes too". The entire HMMWV erupts into laughter and we're rolling laughing for the 15 minute cruise back to base.

Best Deployment story:
While deployed to Iraq one day I was handing on firearms as the Head of the Armory for the day and heard the all to familiar whistle of an incoming motar. So myself and the CO standing next to me yelled for the incoming round we didn't see it at time. Well I looked up to see the incoming round headed right for my position. I immedialty kissed my ass go bye since it was to late. Well long story short round hit 15ft no joking from me and bounced to a still. The round never armed since it was launced from the wrong size tube. While still standing there in shock and thanking god I was alive the CO asked If was ok because there was so luquid on ground and it was just from me pissing my pants. Well the remaining time left I would always wake up to a pair of diapers in my room or in my HUMVEE
