I was looking through the cards I've collected in the past few months of rejoining the hobby and was wondering what others did with their inserts and parallel cards.
I am referring to the non-numbered inserts and parallels like 2013 Topps Emerald, Chasing History Inserts, Cut to the Chase, 2013 Bowman Gold, etc. Do you guys try to collect the whole set of these? Trade them away for other inserts? Or, do you try to sell them off? Just wondering what other collectors did with them. |

I just try to collect the inserts and parallels from my fav teams: Cincy Reds/Steelers/Toronto Maple Leafs. I use the other ones for trade bait for the teams listed above.
I am an "old-school" base set collector, and feel like these are "extra" cards to a main set. If I tried to set build every parallel and insert set along side of the main base sets, my head would explode, so I just strive for my fav teams

If the insert in question is a design I like and the prices are fairly low I will try to complete the set. Otherwise, I put them in team lots or insert lots of the same kind and sell. Trading is always a good option when I'm trying to complete an insert set. For example, I'm trying to complete the '13 Bowman Gold set and have made great progress by trading for them. Thanks to a few trades on here I'm only 6 cards away from completing the set.

I keep all of the Braves cards, and trade the rest to other people in order to finish base sets or other insert sets I want. I've sold some of the bulk parallels in the past, but I feel like I get more out of them by trading now.

I sell mine in groups of 100 or so to a local guy, I get a quick 50 dollars and he gets an eventual $150ish.

I put together, or I should say try, sets that aren't too easy. I like a challenge. IE: Topps Heritage Chrome & Refractors, The Topps Emeralds you just mentioned (cheap, but a large set). If it's fairly easy to put together, I either trade (mostly) or sell them to acquire cards for these sets.

I like the ideas here. I think I may just collect some of the insert sets that are appealing to me and sell off/trade the parallels I don't really like.
Do you guys list your parallel lots on ebay? COMC? create a thread on here for the low end cards? |

Any card I don't want for my PC gets given to my neighbor's 7 and 9 year old boys.

I don't buy them or trade for them. Once I get them from box breaks, I try to trade them up for autos or relics. If I can, however, I will send them TTM to get them signed. Sometimes, they look amazing with an autograph.
