Well I was going to pick up superman, oni press and walking dead, but and listen to this, my local lcs said that .40 a comic is too much for them, so they ordered only 10 walking dead..

one of my lcs said they are doing the basic tier.. so i know if i should even bother

Its just showing how greedy some Lcs's have become..Not all mind you..So before I am jumped on..Some immediately raise prices etc on hot issues..My lcs sold me a walking dead blank at cover, then raised the price on the day it came out to 10.00 a copy..I believe they should have a right to make money, but if they continue, people will just go through diamond and skip the middleman

I'm here in Chicago for the Diamond Retailer Summit and C2E2 as well. My shop is opening this Wednesday, May 1st, and I am participating in FCBD. I tried to order about $100 worth of books for FCBD (at .20-.40 each, and that didn't even include high shipping costs). My orders were late since I didn't even plan on opening the shop until February and the FCBD books were cut off in February. Diamond still had extras of about 40% of what I ordered (no Walking Dead left), so I called them back and put in higher amounts of the books they still had in stock. They told me that I would have pay a higher shipping cost for rush delivery, but I still chose to get them regardless; it's my fault for not getting things together sooner, I still want to participate in FCBD and not have my potential new customers suffer for that.

I am planning on starting it out at 4 books per person, mind you I have about 100 kids walk by my door every Saturday to go to the next door Karate/Dance/Music/Tutoring Studio, so I am still fearful I might get wiped out sooner than I prefer. I will probably post on the shop's facebook page for people to get there early to ensure they get the books they want. I will have local artist/writer Sig Henriquez of Germz Comics doing free sketches from 11:00 to 5:00, so I'm sure that will be a huge hit with the kids as well.

If at the end of the day I still have some books left, I will offer them to you guys for free (just pay actual shipping costs). I will let you guys know what I have left at days end. You can check out my shop's facebook page at StripSide Comics and Sportscards, I have been putting up a little here and a little there, including photos. I am losing my mind getting everything together, but the shop is coming along amazingly, so that's the price of my current insanity. That's really cool, best of luck with the new shop.

Edit: Max Bemis is doing a Polarity signing on FCBD at Beach Ball Comics in Anaheim. There might be an option there. I haven't heard too much about what some of the more local shops around me are doing.

Collector's Paradise has a bunch of people that day, you can see for yourself, too many to list

going after ONI press #1 and WD, the closest shop near me is about an hour away so I hope I'm able to get there before all the copies are gone.

I already bought a Mouse Guard on Fleabay for $6.. That book was on FIRE last year, and this year it has a preview of RUST in it. I'm thinking it might go fast

Now, about $5 bucks.. but they were selling for $20 within a week of release last year.. not sure this one will follow suit, but thought I'd pick 1 up just in case, plus it's a fun read.

Got my 2nd delivery from my midtown sub..Came perfect..I wish I could goto Fcbd...They are also having some type of special fishing day for handicapped children, so he comes first to me
