Default Why you no ebay feedback?

Hey all. Does anyone here message sellers and ask them to leave you feedback if they haven't after a completed sale? And do you give the sellers a certain amount of time to leave feedback?

I'm currently waiting on 4 sellers to leave me feedback. It's been a few weeks since our deals have been completed and I've already left positive feedback once I had received my cards.

These sellers have hundreds or thousands of positive feedback from buyers, so I figured they would be on the ball. I realize many of them probably have lots of transactions daily or weekly, but it should just be routine to leave your buyers feedback if they deserve it, right?

I'm at 155 feedback right now, but I want feedback for all of my transactions, especially if I'm leaving them good feedback- which I do. This is only fair, right?

So, how long do you guys wait and how do you approach them? Something like "Dude, do you mind leaving me feedback for our transaction?"

Uh, no this would be a bad idea. I never had much luck asking for people to leave me feedback. In the other parties own time they are going to decide whether or not to leave feedback.

I like getting feedback for everything and always leave feedback. As a seller I use to (still do sometimes) wait until the buyer leaves feedback then ill leave mine. But on smaller transactions I just leave once I ship.

It's just whenever I get around to it ill message them. Maybe a week or so after I know they've received the item ill send a message saying "Hey, could you please leave me feedback for our ____ transaction? I already left you some! Thanks"

Normally keeping it humble & professional and not really demanding feedback seems to work most of the time.

It just seems rude to not return the favor if the seller is happy with everything. I mean, if they have 2,000 positive feedback, that means 2,000 people were considerate enough to take the 45 seconds it takes to give them the feedback they deserve.

I guess the feedback isn't as important as the seller shipping quickly and well-packaged, or the buyer paying promptly, but it's still part of completing the transaction and the only way to show your appreciation for a smooth transaction.

I'm just frustrated because I always leave feedback. I even try to personalize it if something sticks out from the deal such as great communication or freebies, etc.

Yeah, I can understand withholding feedback until the buyer completes their feedback, since it's the last thing the seller can hold over the buyer.

I wondered why some sellers would give immediate feedback once the item was paid for, since there is no guarantee the buyer will leave feedback. It's a nice gesture, but not necessary imo. Just as long as feedback is left at some point.

From my experience buying on ebay, most sellers left me feedback right after I sent them payment.

1. Feedback is voluntary
2. Some sellers leave it in batches, some leave it asap, some don't leave it at all, some wait for the buyer to let them know they are satisfied.
3. Some sellers don't bother with leaving a buyer feedback since it's pretty much meaningless. All buyers have 100%.
Really there is nothing more you can do with 156 feedback than 155. It doesn't prove anything.

I always leave feedback upon receiving payment, and probably average around a 75% rate of buyers returning the favor.

Because believe it or not there are buyers out there who will leave bad feedback or ding dsr stars because they didn't get their atta boy.

One other thing too. I would go as far as not becoming a repeat customer if a seller doesn't give me feedback; especially if there were any small annoyances such as the packaging was questionable or the shipping was slower than it should have been (you know, when your card is marked "shipped" the day after you buy it and it still takes 10 days to move 3 states) or no response from a message, etc.

Maybe I'm just picky, but if you're selling stuff, the last thing you want to do is create doubt in your buyer's mind.

as a buyer i wont leave feedback for a seller until they leave me feedback, as a seller i leave feedback as soon as they pay.

that being said looking at my fb I left 975 feedback and only received 903 total. add on at least 50 purchases i made where the seller didnt leave feedback so i didnt and i've not received feedback over 125 times... amazing

Bottom line is if you can receive 75% feedback you are doing well.

As a seller I leave FB when item ships. If I get it back I get it back. If not then there is not much I can do.

As a buyer if I have not received FB when my items arrive I will send the seller a note telling them I have received the item and I will leave FB once it is left for me.

The only exception to this is if I can tell seller uses an Auto FB program.

If you buy on ebay the seller should always leave feedback first. I message the seller when I receive my item and ask for feedback and will leave feedback only after they do.

We have people message us annoyed that we have not left feedback. Some of the messages have been downright rude and nasty.

The thing is we as a large volume seller have automatic feedback system setup, so once we are left positive feedback it is left for that individual in return.

I have explained this to several customers that have still been upset and not understanding why we dont leave first.

I've left 3255 and received 2729. You're right on par with the norm.

Edit: the above was on my selling acount. My buying account is 1213 left and 1134 received.

You'd think that it would be the buyer gets their item, happy with it and leaves feedback, then the buyer leaves feedback.

I use to always do it like that. But after looking at some feedback stuff online, I found A LOT of people mentioning how it should be the seller leaving feedback first then the buyer. And that they wouldn't leave feedback without the seller leaving feedback first. I read this and thought its weird, but its whatever.

If I sell an item and its under say $40, I'll leave feedback once they pay or once I ship. If its more money than that, I wait until they receive the item and leave me feedback. Just so I don't leave positive feedback, then they want a return or something's wrong or something

I agree it's nice to get atleast a thank you for your purchase, but in reality you are just as protected buying from a 0 feedback seller as you are a 10k feedback seller.

Sellers have not been able to leave negs for buyers since 2008 and it more than likely will never change. To much retalitory feedback was being left, and yes, you are exactly right. Ebay's stance is a buyer is less likely to spend more money if they feel they might get bad feedback.

I don't understand the green donut reference. If you mean will I not buy from a seller again if she/he doesn't leave me feedback, then no. At least not just because of that.

The point I'm trying to make is that as a seller I would want to do everything within reason to make the customer happy. Leaving feedback is definitely one of those things. And yeah, if they have a bunch of great cards I want, I'm likely to buy again from them anyways- feedback be damned.

But yeah, I'm a finicky buyer and it doesn't take a lot of red flags for me to move on to someone else if I feel slighted or unappreciated. Perhaps that's being overly sensitive, but I don't think I'm the only buyer out there who is turned off by sellers that don't appear to give a damn about me or my money.

Aside from lowering their fees..this is one thing I wish EBay would do. If I sell something and you don't pay or you say you bought it as a "mistake", I should fully be able to leave you negative feedback. In return, the buyer shouldn't be allowed to leave any feedback until they pay. That way the buyer can't leave negative feedback in retaliation for them receiving negative feedback for not paying.

By far the most annoying thing on eBay is selling an item and the winning person is someone with no feedback who doesn't pay. Or the occasional lie of a message "hey sorry, accidentally clicked buy it now". Negative feedback should definitely be sent for that
