New collection unveiled: Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon

Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon

A few months ago, I decided that I wanted to collect one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players that I remember watching and rooting for when I was a kid. There were many to choose from...Jordan, Pippen, Magic, Kareem, Ewing, Miller, Malone, Bird, Barkley, Stockton, Robinson, Drexler, Worthy, and Hakeem. I was drawn to Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon. I loved his game as a dominant big man during his time, his intensity, I loved the way he moved on the court, his defense, love his nickname "The Dream" (but he was a nightmare for his oppponents!), and of course was is awe of his trademark move the Dream Shake. It was fun watching him play and see him skillfully destroy his oppponents. I remember that I used to dream about being a shorter version of Olajuwon, so I practiced his shake and spin moves on my own on the court. But, I couldn't come close haha.

On that note, I've been inspired to slowly pick up some of his cards for my collection. It has been a blast searching for the ones I have already picked up, and I plan on tracking more of his cards as I continue on my search for The Dream.

Understand he is the leader, but statisticians say both Wilt and Russell dwarfed his stats. It was just before Blocks were an official category. Still one of the best defensive players of his era.

I would have loved to see a triple auto with Chamberlain, Russell, and Olajuwon on one card. Anyone know if one exists?

Since the Wilt would have to be a cut auto, I don't think so. Sweet collection so far!
