Glad everyone received their cards... I was really excited to get my lot of cards... had some great hits including a Purple Anthony Rizzo auto #'d to /10
Instead of cards I received an empty envelope
Any advice for me?? Hester said he didn't purchase insurance on them so USPS says there is nothing they can do. I never asked him to buy insurance, but to be fair, he never mentioned it either... Blowout didn't reply when I asked them for advice, the Rizzo is a $150 card... guess I'm left holding the bag (literally) after spending $90+ on this break......

I wouldn't have purchased insurance either - nor would I expect it unless it was listed in the op or I requested it.

Hester ran this as a non-profit break. He made nothing except his hedge on shipping.

You know you would win any paypal dispute. I think a 50/50 split of your slot cost would be fair. That way neither of you lose completely.

Yeah, that is my feeling. I definitely wouldn't be complaining if he had mentioned in the OP that he would require extra $$ to purchased insurance for any big hits, but that wasn't the case. I would be open to any sort of compromise. I've been in a few breaks thus far and this was my first nice hit... sucks that this is the package this happened to!

Yeah, certainly none of my business of course, but a compromise (assuming it can be reached) is good of you.

up until this point I didn't even take the package out of the usps plastic bag that they put around it...

now the reason the cards were lost is all the more visible...
the envelope Hester put them in was simply too small for the number of cards inside... The envelope cleanly busted at the side seam, no jagged tears from a sorting machine, just a clean separation from something inside being too wide for the package itself...

I put the same number of cards (these were my own cards, once again the envelope from hester arrived empty) inside that were supposed to have been in the package to give a visual (I hit 5 cards in this break)...

For those that wonder why I didn't contact Hester about this... I did already... this is what I said:

"Robert,

I received an unpleasant package today from USPS. I was really looking forward to the cards because I hit a really nice RIZZO purple auto /10 and a few others... but instead of getting cards, I got an envelope from USPS that was empty and looked like this (pic attached)"

Hester replied:
"Wow I have not experienced this before. I did not insure the package. Will the Post Office do anything for you? I sent this package fully sealed and tape numerous times."

Now... can someone please look at these pics and show me the "fully sealed and tape numerous times" part of this package?? Because I am holding the package and there is not a single piece of tape on it anywhere---->

So I responded:

"No, (USPS) said without insurance there is nothing they can do, just gave me a form letter... I wouldn't even be that concerned if I didn't hit much but the Rizzo alone is a $150 card... and I think I paid around $90 for the break to begin with. I know you were just doing all of us a favor by breaking, doing all the work/shipping etc... but I'm not sure what to do here. Check my ebay page, I sell/ship hundreds of items a week so I know all about USPS and their protocol. What do you think?"

In other words, I was trying to let him know that I knw he didn't do any of this on purpose, that these things happen...

I didn't here back for 24 hours... in the meantime I contacted Blowout since I have spent over 2K (not with other peoples money on breaks I hosted, my own money) in the last 3 months on their site. I figured since they "hosted" the break and since I am such a loyal customer they might try to find a way to take care of me... they asked me if I contacted Hester... I told them I had... after that, no response...

So I sent Hester 1 more message:

"Any thoughts on a resolution here??"

to which he replied:

"I am not sure what to do since the package was not insured. I have not experienced this before especially with the Post Office's clear mishandling of this package. What are you thinking? Not sure what else I can do at this point since I packaged this up very sturdy."

hhhmmmmmmmm....

So, what did I do wrong here fella's? I'm out max, 5 cards, (prob just north of $200 worth all told), and minimum my $92 I paid for the break.. Nothing to show for it... Too many cards in a 4x6 bubble mailer... simple as that!!

You have handled this so poorly.

I would just give you $92 and consider it $ well spent.

Hester is one of (if not the very) best breakers on any site anywhere.

To post this the way you have is very poor form.

Why don't you explain a better way then? I sent PM after PM to no avail... I didn't post this in the general thread where it would get viewed by the masses, I posted it within the very thread all of us involved in the break are in... Tell me what you would have done
