Jones or Jassssson, one of them has to be trade deadline bait this year to get whatever piece they need for a WS run. 3B/lights out closer, whatever it is come then.

Need to add Volpe to any trade. Maybe they can sell the "he just needs a new start elsewhere."

It would take at minimum both of them to get a lights out closer. Jasson is a switch hitting OF that can't hit from the left side or catch a flyball. Jones projects to K close to half his at bats at the major league level.

Well this seems like a good suggestion now that Eovaldi owned them again.

Hey I could stand to lose 9 pounds that fast. Wouldn’t want to do it that way. Now we get to root for Paul Blackburn I hope the offense shows up.

Not sure people are looking around the league, but who exactly is this lights out reliever that's available?

Tampa won’t keep playing this good, they are helping the Yankees by keeping the other teams in the division further behind.

I really don’t see anyone. Maybe Duran if Phillies go South. I could see a rebuild there.

That would be my plan exactly! Grisham has shown that he is nothing more than a decent 4th outfielder with a little bit of pop off the bench not a leadoff hitter for this team. I would have Dominguez lead off and put Spencer Jones in the cleanup spot and see how that goes

Nobody, The sad thing is the Yankees probably could’ve had Mason Miller when he was on the A’s

If anyone gets traded for a significant piece, it has to be Spencer Jones. His slash line and cumulative stats in AAA are really good, however, he is NOT a disciplined hitter.

Throughout his MiLB career, he swings at about 50% of ALL pitches he sees. 30-35% of the swings are at balls outside the zone. His contact percentage hangs around 60%. Those three stats alone will get him eaten alive in the big leagues.

For comparison, Trent Grisham (the guy Jones would replace in the lineup and who's off to a bad start) only swings at 38% of all pitches, with only 18% of those swings being at balls outside the zone. He also has a career contact percentage of 78%

Another comparison, Judge (the guy Jones is seemingly trying to imitate) swings at 42% of all pitches with only 22% of those being outside the zone. He has a career contact percentage of 68%.

Point is, I don't think Jones is ready. If he's able to square up the ball, it flies. But if he gets called up now, all it's going to take is these professional pitchers to figure out a sequence that works and then it's game over. With that said, if somethings clicks in Jones like it did with Judge then he can be a menace. But time is running out as he turns 25 in 7 days.

EDIT: And Jones' splits against lefties has been awful this year and last year. So, even if he was called up, you'd likely be looking at a platoon situation.

Not any 1 one player but they had more depth in a trade than just devries. There’s Lombard jr. There’s Jones, There’s Gil, trust me they had enough to get it done.

Those 3 probably wouldn’t have gotten it done but you’re gonna empty the farm for a closer?

Well Blackburn gave them one scoreless inning and now it’s Brandon Beck in his debut hopefully it goes well. Thanks to Joc Pederson the Yankees got 2 triples one by Goldschmidt and the other by Bellinger to drive in the run.

3 players who will rot in the Yankees farm system anyway and have you seen Millers numbers he’s not your average closer.

Those players wouldn’t have been enough and you better hope Lombard doesn’t rot in the farm system. They need him to be good. Jones is rotting because he’s not good at baseball.

Made nice catch at the wall and slammed his shoulder and head into it. He was able to stand and walk but they made him exit the game in a cart.
