Beginning to think no online sales of this stuff today, just released to breakers and shops at this point......

Did Definitive Baseball go up on the site either?

Both products on the "Release Spotlight" of the release calendar note "Available Now" (Need a whole separate thread on what a joke the "Release Calendar" is when people have to ask questions about a release on "Release Day")

Love to know how this is true. There are several sales today I see total cost $910-$1000. That's total cost. Most people have to pay tax with Fanatics. I can buy right now for slightly under what the total amount would have been if I won the Fanatics drop. I realize most people think this product is going to go up. But right now winning that was winning at a slight loss for most.

Because people assume that this is going to hit 1500 in no time.

He's just excited. Nothing wrong with that, and if someone is holding for a bit, what he said will most likely be true. But you are correct right now. There is zero profit to be had at the moment by winning that draw at $900+. Dealernet is softer again today than it was yesterday with cases hovering around $7,500 now, which is about $937 a box. A big thing right now is the amount of new releases that have been dropping, and they have all cost a lot. So I would venture a guess and say people are having to choose where to spend their money right now with so many options. So that means the upward trend won't be immediate IMO.

Guess this is part of Fanatics' plan? Release a lot at once so even above average collectors have to choose where to spend their money. All the releases still sell out then people who want a taste of something they may have had to pass on will be driven to the Breakers (or singles but they aren't the target audience anyway)?

All of us have a limited budget. Its just a matter of how limited it is. There are usually waves like this every year where a cluster comes out all at once and it makes people choose. I think it was less noticeable previously when it was Panini and Topps releasing near each other. Now that its all on Topps, it stands out more.

If you're just about maximizing profits, as Fanatics has shown, why go this route? Doesn't it make more sense to space products out so you can squeeze your customers as much as possible?

Their whole release schedule is so weird. Years to plan and this is what they come up with? From a collectors and a business perspective, it boggles the mind. Maybe I'm missing something?

I hear you on them having a strange release schedule. I'm guessing they want to heard people to breakers. They still sell out of the product they release to us. What they purposely don't sell they sell later at the current market price.

Correct on both points. They want people going to breakers, and they want to sell waves at higher and higher prices. Hate it all you want, but that's smart business. Over the years, Panini and Topps would sell whatever product at $300 a box to their distributors as prices climbed to $1,000 a box. The distributors and wholesalers would hold the product and cash in on the large gains. For Fanatics to continue that business model would be idiotic if they have the end goal of making money.

Yeah that's what stinks about one company owning all the licensing they can really control the market and from a business standpoint they should. From the standpoint that I won't be able to rip a box of Cosmic it blows lol!

Yeah, I get them wanting ppl to use certain breakers and Fanatics Live and all that.

What I don't understand is what is the advantage for Fanatics in having their customers choose where to spend their limited resources? Wouldn't you want to space out products so ppl can spend everything, get their paychecks, then spend everything again? Maybe Fanatics should make drops at 5 PM every other Friday... jkjk

Don't want the masses growing a brain by having to choose between products!

between all of the licenses there will be something like 150-200 releases per year, so expect 3-4 a week.

Little guy has limited funds and has to pick and choose. Fanatics doesn’t have any need for them.

Big guy has big money 24 hours a day - they will sell out no matter what. Profit is profit.

Is the peanut gallery suggesting we’ve reached a saturation point, where the hobby can’t financially handle and absorb multiple high priced products at once?

Yeah I agree with you but I think they are herding average people to breaking because if they may have to fit a hobby box into their budget but you can almost always justify $40-$100 for an impulsive/bored online break that’s always available to you.

bc there will be no further releases. if you think these are staying at 900 - not sure what to tell you

I know you wish that was the case, but your comprehension of what is going on lacking (what else is new). As you can see, everything is still selling out instantly. There is no shortage of money to buy the drops. That will not stop. The only comment that was made is that it slows down the price movement on the secondary market. Some here was suggesting that Cosmic would move quickly to $1,500. I stated that it most likely wouldn't move that fast and gave the reason why. Stop trying to turn every comment into your fantasy of the entire hobby collapsing on itself. No matter how bad you want it to happen, its still not happening.
