it would be close between this 'sky is falling' thread and 7sins '$200 a barrel of gas' in Off Topic. Or at least heck of a lot closer than this threads original poll

Why would they be too afraid to even think about their wallet? Because the markets appear to be down across the board:

-- The DOW is the lowest it's been since October 10th of last year.

-- The NASDAQ is the lowest it's been since August 27th of last year.

If asset prices generally trend in the same direction, this might portend lower prices for trading cards in the near future.

So, are you too scared to even think about your hobby wallet at the moment?

Dow October 10th last year 45,479.60
Dow as of close for today 48,578.72

Nasdaq August 27th last year 21,590.14
Nasdaq as of close for today 24,102.70

S&P 500 closes at a new all-time high

Are you adjusting for inflation and projecting out to later this year?

How much of the gains in the indexes since last year are because of the AI bubble (grift)?

Boy, if it was the primary driver, we're going to have some problems ahead.

These are your best posts. Having the facts laid out on a silver platter in front of you, debunking everything you said earlier using the same data. Your response?

But, but, but! What about inflation?

As well as you implying that we need to look further down the road for the collapse. Why? Because you are wrong right now and there are no facts to help you now. You need future unknown facts. But when those arrive, you repeat the cycle.

Advances in technology are a grift? Its hard to grasp, but sometimes technology improves and advances societies. You will be lumped into the same bucket with the people who laughed at computers being in homes and internet being used by everyone. All grifts, right? I really don't know how one person can be any more wrong about absolutely everything.

On Blowout you’re not allowed to participate if you don’t collect ultra modern sports cards like the boomers do.

Whats wild is the fact that there are nearly 100 new Data centers being built east of the Mississippi River to help further increase computing capacity for AI and future usage. We are building chip manufacturing here in the US as well.

All the wasted money on EV battery plants has shifted those facilities to battery storage for data centers. The reality is the construction industry is on fire. Blue collar workers are gaining great strides in pay amd benefits.

I employ 26 field technicians, None of which have a college education, all of which pull down 100k a year or more in salary. That doesnt count Healthcare (covered), travel pay, all fuel, vehicle allowances, 3 weeks of paid vacation and all federal holidays off.

The secret is taking care of those who take care of you and ensuring they can live a comfortable life.

So many people are worried about economics and jobs reports yet everywhere I go people are hiring.

Maybe, just maybe whats on the news and in online articles could be political posturing and fear mongering.

There may ne sectors that pull back, there may not be. But as you say Premium, the overall trend is upward and onward.

The bolded is the biggest issue. Depending on where you get your news from, people are force fed these narratives. There is such hatred in the country right now from each side towards the other that its nearly impossible to get neutral information. Which is why critical thinking skills are so important, so you can actually filter through the nonsense that fabiani12333, herman, and others post here. They get fed an economic outlook with an agenda and eat it up and ask for seconds. Then they bring that same nonsense here and apply it to the hobby. They lack the ability to see through these headlines (fabiani loves the headlines) and they also lack the ability to use information that applies to the topic at hand (herman has this problem). Common sense and logic are traits that many do not possess, which is why we end up with these kind of ridiculous threads and posts here over and over.

this is insane growth. The two week spike is the strongest bounce ive ever seen.

Who are these people who wouldn't spend $275 for a share of Google 2 weeks ago who will now spend $340 this week?

makes absolutely no sense. Good for our portfolios.

The bigger question is how many of us are going to sell google at $340 to buy Nick Kurtz rookie cards or blow it on 2026 bowman breaks?

I feel like the people that own individual Google stock are not the same people that participate in breaks.

If you have to do this, you're doing it wrong.

I sold a lot of Google an hour ago and bought Netflix and Alcoa. Not cardboard.

Yes this is financial advice.
