I am using an eBay Envelope to send a card. When I read the directions i was a little confused. Is the best practice to place the card in a sleeve followed by top loader and followed by a sandwich of thin cardboard ?? or just the top loader. If someone can give me some guidance i would deeply appreciate it
Thank you i |

For 2 to 6 cards, I use two card saver with 3 cards in each. I put the two tops together. Works perfect with the longer envelopes.

I use a Cardsaver, Cardsaver sleeve, blue tape to order form, fold up, put in envelope. Top loaders were getting returned to me.

#10 envelope, card saver (preferred) or toploader, tape it to the side so it bends in the middle.
Keys: It shouldn't be too thick and it shouldn't be too rigid. If you add cardboard or anything like that, you are asking for trouble.

Use as little Painters Tape as Possible, and Do not Tape to the inside of the envelope.
I would rather Rip a card in half and return(I wouldn't actually, but I HATE this), then deal with cards that are tapped to hell inside a PWE. When I get 40 packages in a couple days and the cards dont just come out easily, I get irritated lol. Im prob one of the few who would complain about that, but seriously do not tape the card to a paper inside of an envelope.

I do:
I usually do the 1.32 shipping, Card Sleeve, Card saver, team bag. Depends on card may use Top loader. Use a Kraft Envelope Postcard size, use 2 index cards. Slip team bag in the middle of the index cards. Thought sometimes I use the .74 cents, then I do standard envelope small card saver. Team bag. No index cards. |

Here's my method:
Step 1: Place card into penny sleeve Step 2: Place penny sleeve into top loader (not card saver). Step 3: Painter's tape on top to keep card in top loader during transit. Step 4: Depending on weight (I determine what weight to use depending on value of card; and preference towards using chrome cards for padding too) - 1 oz => tape 1 card on a single side of the top loader - 2 oz => tape 2 cards on each side of the top loader - 3 oz => tape 3 cards on each side of the top loader If I ship multiple sold cards within a single PWE, I reduce the number of cards used for padding. Step 5: Tape label to PWE. Tape the whole envelope up with shipping tape. Last edited by eastbayak; 02-24-2026 at 04:22 PM. |

#6 envelope
Top loader in team set bag. Printed 4x6 label stuck on the side with the flap...quick & easy to pack, even if you don't spend up for the peel 'n stick envelopes.

I recommend cutting the corners to your team bags, if you're shipping PWE - sometimes they catch a little air and cause trouble in the machines (I was toploaders in team bags until a point, then switched to stickers and my INR claims fell ALMOST as much as they did with the Switch from Toploaders to Semi-Rigids)

Here's my setup for a single card. For multiple cards I'm using the bigger CardSaver. Toploaders would look pretty similar;

I use the thin cardboard self-sealing envelopes and a thermal label maker, it makes life easy for me.
Inside: Penny sleeve Semi-rigid Then painters taped to a very thin piece of cardboard I bend an end of the painters tape in, so its easy to remove

The key is to make sure it isn't rigid. This is the flex test used on letters to determine if they pass or fail. Large Envelopes have a 2 inch test versus the 1 inch for letters.

Don't ship any thicker cards on the cheap, the machine will bend them. Had two relic cards sent via PWE and they now have creases on them. Make the buyer pay the extra cost to not run through machine.

I cut up cereal or snack boxes to the size of envelopes and painters tape the semi-rigid to the back side. that way it's gets some rigidness but not too much and the card doesn't take the brunt of the machines.

In an envelope I generally do:
Card inside a penny sleeve, top loader, team bag, then put inside a Tri-folder piece of printer paper. I generally have the 3oz shipping for PWE on eBay, but would I be fine with doing just the 1oz? I feel like I might be losing sales listing cards at $1.49 - $2.99 and charging $1.32 for shipping? Would 1oz at $.74c be better with no issues?

There is no reason to use 3oz instead of 1oz. I have shipped hundreds of single cards packaged exactly as you described using 1oz. |

Thanks! For single cards I will start using the 1oz shipping option.

I never understood the team bag. Seems unnecessary for a single card in a card saver. Though I do appreciate having them for when I pack lots.

Yeah, I didn’t figure…but I guess a sale probably would happen quicker with an order total of $2.85 rather than $3.55
