Default Real or fake Curry 2009-10 Topps rookies

A seller is saying these are reprints and they are also somewhat unsure.

I can’t really tell if they are reprints or not.

Anyone able to clarify one way or the other while using the picture below?

Thanks!

The one easy tell tale sign on a large portion of reprint/fakes is the STEPHEN CURRY font is usually wrong

This font is correct on these and it appears the foil on TOPPS and his name looks correct

I don’t see any tell tale signs, however, fakes do exist with the correct name font/foil so not sure there’s any way to determine off this photo alone

If the seller is saying that he’s saying it for a reason (prob got em dirt cheap) so I’d trust that

These things have exploded in value, I was getting psa 7s for $500 and now I’m seeing psa 4s go for $800+

Right on.

I was looking at that part of the cards and after that checked out, it definitely left me a tad puzzled.

He did note as one thing that the front surfaces do not appear to be very glossy, as I do believe real ones have some good gloss.

Thanks for chiming in!

Wasn't it something with a capitalized Y versus a lower case y on the front spelling?

Looks like the common fake out there that has the correct "y" at the end. You can tell by the stitching in the collar of his shirt. Below is an example of that same fake. Please don't use reprint for this. Reprints are real, manufactured, licensed cards.

Adding to the post what some fakes look like.

For these fakes the font style and letter color used for his name is different than the authentic version.

Below is a fake:

Another fake:

Now here is a real version:

The fakes just don't have the "y" issue. Here is a real card (right) and a fake (left.) See how you can't see the detail in the stitching in the collar? The colors are not right as well. You can see the orange in the Warriors logo is not as bright, just like the original cards you posted.

I noticed too the fake on the left might always be off centered on the front left to right.

Maybe to trick people thinking that fakes always have perfect centering. It makes me sad to go on eBay and search for cards like this. I saw two fake Curry rookies sold for just under $250 to avoid eBay authentication.

Protip: if a dude is sitting on a Doyle sized stack of ungraded Steph rookiez and claim to have no recollection of their origins then.....

I got some bad news for you, boyo.

Also, majority of the fakes are just straight up xerox'd photocopies. Don't have any foil stamping on the front whatsoever. From your pics, those look like those same cheap fakes spammed all over Mercari. You can see there's no reflection or variance in his name, the silver stamping is just silver ink.
