Default Keep or Sell Back MVP Cards in Topps Chrome?

I was curious. Regarding the 25-26 Topps Chrome Buyback program, are you guys going to sell back your MVP cards (whomever it may be) for the allotted $20, $40 or perhaps more if numbered; OR are you going to keep them and roll the dice that (because there will be far fewer of these cards in the wild, as most now will be back at Topps) the price will increase even more due it's scarcity? Just curious.

I feel this is way off. Not only will you have 1. People who don’t know there even is this buyback program (yes not everyone lives on the internet) as I don’t remember at least in the past them inserting a card marking the program as they do for say the contest to be player for a day in the MILB sets. Even if so 2. You have a lot of people like myself who don’t have a local LCS to participate and don’t make the effort to sell on EBay or send it in like you can. 3. A TON of this will still probably be ripped after the contest is over especially if the rookies pan out so it’s not like no more enter the wild as soon as contest ends lol

Only ones that maybe scarce are like /25, /50 which are already pretty scarce lol and if they only give $200 for /99 under people may not even sell back to Topps for those low of numbers as you can prob sell for more yourself, it is gonna be the MVP and people go Cuckoo for Chromium

There's just under 250,000 base cards of each player and tens of thousands of the unnumbered refractors. Sell them back.

In baseball they stamp them with "MVP" and numbering and put them into the next year's product as an ultra rare chase. If the player wins MVP again, those MVP stamped buybacks are eligible again and worth a ton (like $600-1k).

I have an SGA red/white/blue. If he wins again, should I sell myself, or sell it back?

You don't get to sell it back. You get to trade it for credit for another purchase.

Right. Trade it in and pick out a Jordan, or sell it for more than they’re offering and buy an even nicer Jordan. My question is, is that SGA worth more than they’re offering?

It looks like R/W/B are unnumbered and are selling in the $15-20 range on average with some going abit higher. You’ll get $40 from Topps IF he wins again, if you’re down for store credit and have faith I’d wait for Topps. If he doesn’t win though it’ll likely be even less than it’s going for right now as people are buying with the intention to sell to Topps (some anyway). So if you prefer cash and would take half the buyback sell now, if not I’d wait and just hope he does win and sell to Topps.

Baseball has done this for several years, there is no premium on unredeemed versions of the cards. They only carry value while you can still redeem them. Once that window closes, the value drops back to what you would expect some of the base and refractors to be, a couple bucks at most.

The idea makes sense, but there is no arbitrage in holding these long term.

I put together a base set, so this is actually a harder decision. In a few years will I be able to buy back a SGA base for $20, or will most have handed them in, driving up the price?

There are SOOOOO many out there, you will be able to buy back an SGA base for $2 and that’s what they will be worth.

I know it sounds goofy, but it makes financial sense to sell your SGA now, pocket that $12, then the day after the promotion is over, buy an SGA on the open market for $2.

It’s a free $10 in your pocket if you are willing to wait. Not sure why anybody wouldn’t do it. The set is just going to sit in your closet anyways, does it really matter if the SGA is in there now versus eight months from now?
