A Knight's Tale is a prime example. Still one of the worst movies I’ve ever paid to watch. If I had known it was filled with constant, unnecessary rock and roll classic songs, I never would have bought a ticket. |

Yeah, not great. Way too long. The music (pecking pianos) was incredibly annoying. A rebellion led by pro-black, pro-woman, pro-illegals, pro-burnout, insert another demographic. A degenerate Army Captain played by an over the hill, once great, actor that is pumped up on HGH and God know what else. If I wanted to be nice, I'd write that it was mildly entertaining here and there. Leo's character was comedically entertaining.

I thought the 80's music worked. 8/10 on first view, but I'll probably watch it more time, and that number could change. Following up their previous film together, "Uncut Gems", the Safdie brothers went solo for their next theatrical films. One made this which shares the propulsive energy (and co-writer) of "Uncut Gems", while the other wrote & directed on his own "The Smashing Machine" starring The Rock. Box-office wise, "Marty Supreme" is clearly the winner, but I haven't seen "The Smashing Machine" yet, so I can't say which is better.

Went and saw Song Sung Blue over the weekend. I'm a big Neil Diamond fan and the movie is NOT about Neil Diamond. With that being said, I was very impressed. Great story, great music, and great acting.

I see why it got all the acclaim it did...deserves it much more than Weapons or One Battle After Another imo |

Best of the four Stephen King theatrical adaptations in 2025 was "The Life of Chuck", a true masterpiece. I'd put "The Long Walk" in second place, just above "The Monkey", with "The Running Man" bringing up the rear, although still entertaining. Along with "It: Welcome To Derry" and "The Institute" on streaming platforms, there was plenty to watch for King fans last year.

Putting on the list. Always been a Tron fan. RTs is showing this as a flop by the critics and pretty good by the audience. So I have decent expectations for it. Also like Jared Leto.

Don't know how many people have seen it...but Jay Kelly is a sleeper
I know it's told through the perspective of a "famous actor", but it highlights real emotional/family/loneliness issues |

Visuals were stunning, NIN music was perfect...the story was slightly flakey, but nothing offensive.. I think people tend to just hate on Jared Leto to hate him... I found the new "Tron" entertaining from start to finish, although it's certainly not any kind of "think-piece". In addition to the visuals, which were great, the score from Nine Inch Nails really worked, too.
8/10 ...or 0.11001(repeating) for any bots who may be reading this.

Toxic Avenger with Peter Dinklage is on Hulu. It's more a tribute to the original than a remake or reboot of it. Colorful gore and some funny lines.

Toxic Avenger was definitely...something lol I don't recall ever seeing the original movie way back when...but I knew of the character obviously from the toys and 90s cartoon etc So..yeah was totally..different lol Also.. Just finished Smashing Machine on HBO, honestly...I don't see what all the hate and negativity was all about; I thought it was actually a very solid movie..and the Rock, even though the cosmetics were damn near unrecognizable..it was still obviously his voice..but he proved he could do Drama..and Emily Blunt in support |

Yeah, the "Toxic Crusaders" cartoon was a whole lot different than the original film, which came out in an R-Rated and Unrated version.
Only the unrated version is worth watching.

Bugonia - Was fine. Kinda ho-hum but took a turn at the 1:15 mark and maintained my interest til the end.
The Smashing Machine - Loved Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt's performances but the movie itself could have been better. It was just missing something. Seeing the real Mark Kerr grocery shopping at the end was nice to see. Toxic Avenger - Absurd and fun and I expected nothing less. I'd check out a sequel. The Running Man - Tons of action and kept me engaged the entire movie.

Excellent acting from the Rock and Blunt in "The Smashing Machine", but I think the lone Safdie brother who made this one was purposely trying to subvert the genre, by having very little of the expected beats of a sports-themed movie. The result was a film so understated that it even extended to the lead characters. Usually, in a movie like this, the lead character would be his friend who actually won the tournament at the end, and Mark Kerr would've been a side character.
The Safdie Brothers together previously made the propulsive "Uncut Gems" and the other brother went to do "Marty Supreme" (still playing) which had a lot of the same rapid fire energy, though it likewise doesn't deliver the traditional underdog-wins-at-the-end sports movie hit.

Watched "Jay Kelly" with George Clooney and Adam Sandler on NetFlix. That movie got consideration from various other awards, but didn't make the final cut to get Oscar nominations. That said, Clooney is terrific, and this is right up there with Sandlers' best "serious" roles, which is high praise, as he's had a few gems now, for those who only know him for his comedies. This one is about a successful Hollywood actor coming to grips with what he sacrificed in terms of family and friendships to attain and keep that level of stardom. Sandler plays his long-time agent.
8.5/10

I followed some MMA back in the day, but more of the Iceman and Randy Couture era...so not the early UFCs and DEFINITELY not Pride... Understandable about the Rock and the Oscar stuff..but thought I heard that was more on Safdie trying to pump it since it was his 1st solo film.. Either way..was still a decent watch |
