I'd rather pay $6k for a release day case than $4.5k for a pre-order case.

You need to make sure what the case looks like before the seller ships. Run that by him now.

Topps delayed the case shipments for the release day cases. They don’t ship out until 1/21. It’s not in hand yet. Any cases “in hand” right now are not release day ones.

What I'm saying is, you need to see if the case is blank or a typical Topps case style. If blank, it's highly likely just 10 loose boxes in a shipping box.

For the record. This is a box variation. Most boxes appear to have the vibrant blue “Topps”. Only a few listed so far have the black “Topps”. This listing has both versions for comparison. From what I can tell all early boxes have been light blue. Havent seen any of the black ink ones opened yet to know if they’re late or not.

I confirmed with the user behind this listing: https://ebay.us/m/Y7lN6X (with a dark logo box to my eyes) that their box was pre-ordered. I ended up purchasing a light logo box from a release day purchaser with receipts.

Also, another user has appeared on eBay with Golden Hour cards.

The release day case I ordered was cancelled. Apparently they were all cancelled by Topps. So what’s out there is out there at this point. Boxes that are loaded appear to be super loaded. There’s going to be to a lot of missing cards from this set that never show up imo. And I find the lack of SSPs being listed to be a little odd. They’re never aplenty, but almost none have been listed of any player.

There is one user on eBay (kopanda22) that's either ripped multiple cases for the amounts of hits he's listed, or you're right and some of these boxes were filled with nukes.

Picked up my 10 (pre-sale) boxes earlier today.

Ripped 1 and here's the outcome.



Hit some decent base rookie (Kurtz/Roki) and inserts (Ohtani/JWilson x 2/etc).

There are, by my count, 96 listings. 3 per mega box, per the checklist.

FYI. I received one “confirmed” release day box this far. I have 8 more coming Monday. All were proven with receipts. I see no distinguishable difference between the one I already have vs the pre-order ones. Because of that, I see no reason to “sit” on any. There’s going to be almost no way to prove one from another. It makes sense to hold pre-order boxes because their value will eventually be pulled up by the “potential”. Based on everything I’ve seen, when you get a juiced lot of release day boxes they’re super juiced. So crossing my fingers.

Also, it's still baffling to me on where all of the boxes went. Two releases, none backdoored to fanaticslive, and consistently only 20 or so on ebay. Doesn't add up.

Even Dealernet has very little.

Yep. Doesn’t add up. As I said previously there’s going to be several cards that never surface from this set. And if they do it’ll be because there’s absolutely jacked boxes that are opened.

Unfortunately the cat is out of the bag that release day boxes are superior. So any you buy on eBay now you’re going to be fed bullsh!t on what lot it’s from.

I can't recall the last time that Topps messed up a release this badly. I'm sure you'll all remind me!! Somehow, I was actually able to purchase 4 release day boxes. Of course, they were canceled!

When asking one seller to confirm if they pre-ordered or purchased release day, they simply replied, "I'd rather not lol".

Managed to get two more release date boxes this morning with proof of 12/23 purchase.

I believe in 2018 (may have year wrong) Ginter had zero wood minis in packs and none have surfaced. And in 2022 Ginter all box topper rip cards have 3 stained glass minis as opposed to random hits. Only ones I can think of off the top of my head.
