The county folks here wouldn't take to kind to his type. Just being from Maryland, I got asked a bunch of questions why I moved here to ensure I wasn't going to destroy the county and their way of life. I must be still partially letting them down though as I haven't bought a pickup truck yet and don't have a hunting rifle.
He doesn’t pay attention to much. We agree on that.

And I identify as a married (once) husband with three grown sons, two that graduated from college and one who has enough money saved to buy a house, that lives in the suburbs and will retire in 10-15 years with a full pension and enough savings to move to Europe.

BJJ or boxing lessons might be a start.

Just kidding, but it’s about time we get back to holding kids accountable.

To be clear I'm in no way condoning the taking of FT Jr's lunch - that's unacceptable and should have been dealt with internally when it first happened. It just seems to me that based on what we've been told, bringing in law enforcement, forcing FT Jr to potentially testify in court, etc. - strikes me as excessive for all concerned given the gravity of the offense - as it has been represented to us thus far.

Wow, just read the last page of the thread.

My youngest was getting picked on by a teammate in basketball so he kicked the kid’s rear. He didn’t get picked on again. The older sons never were picked on or in trouble other than getting kicked off the bus for goofing around.

Guess worrying about your own and not others pays off.

Nature was on while I ran home for lunch. Some show about birds of prey and how they pick out the old, weak or lame when hunting.

This isn't the 1930s in your one room schoolhouse anymore.

I'm offended. I think I better call the sheriff.

I believe much of this has to do with lawyers, FWIW. By that I mean school officials are no longer as willing to act on disciplinary issues owing to fear of being sued. So in that sense it may be different but that doesn't make it appropriate.

That’s good.

Seems harsh but that is what snot nosed kids need these days.

No doubt that's what it is

As for you, I thought for sure you would have at least a couple of firearms to keep out all of those people after your spockwookie helmets.
I feel a lot safer here in our new neighborhood, county, and state. And while I still would love to buy a gun to shoot at the range every so often, Mrs. FT's fear, I guess, of me killing her oldest daughter if she ever tried to break in again is what keeps me from owning one.

Speaking of the oldest SD, did she get her results back yet (or maybe she didn't go yet?)?

Might want to check into private schools for FT Jr.
From what I've seen in this county, they are tough on crime and enforce the law which is outstanding. Mrs. FT got pulled over and had to go to driving school and pay a fine for driving 28 in a 25 the second week we lived here. The school seems to allow the sheriff to handle and county prosecute more offenses here than in MD which is fine with me as there seems to be a lot less issues because of it. I am comfortable he has a lot better learning experience in this public school system than the school allowing him to be bullied with no repercussions back in MD.

I thought juvie records were sealed? I would call stealing his lunch once a mistake. Multiple times is a pattern of theft that needs to be stopped one way or the other. I'm not sure if I have the entire story either as I only have what was explained to me by his counselor that day and by FT JR yesterday. The police officer did not leave either my wife or I a voicemail which is why I want to call him. Of course I left his card at home today.

As for the school, we were told they were taking disciplinary action against the two students. Without talking to the officer myself, my guess is they are prosecuting because of it happening multiple times.

That's how we used to handle things as kids in the 80s. Now, you do that and you get charged with assault.

I actually don't know what her next step was. She's been dragging everything out and it seems like when you are on state Medicaid, they make you go through more appointments to get to the end result rather than just private medical insurance being able to go right to specialists. No wonder why it costs taxpayers so much money. Mrs. FT has been pretty ticked at her lately with all of the spats back and forth between her and the other two SDs and not having a job. I know she had that bad flu for about a week now. Mrs. FT hasn't even complained to the middle SD for not inviting the oldest SD to her baby shower this weekend.

And now the middle SD has been getting span phone calls with her number and people asking if she is the oldest SD, so now she's accusing the oldest SD of giving her number out or signing up for something with her number.

I really enjoyed myself years ago at the range when I went with some friends. They only brought along rifles and shotguns, so I haven't had the chance to shoot a handgun.
Wasn't shooting part of your military training?

When I went through bootcamp, the range was closed for asbestos removal so there was no learning how to shoot. In the Navy, it wasn't mandatory to qualify with a pistol and rifle. I never had the chance to do it after bootcamp. I did learn how to destroy classified information and equipment with a thermite grenade though.

You just needed to learn to work the can opener for the fruit cocktail.

Getting ready to head a few towns over to visit with the monks on the Walk For Peace. I may take a personal day today and just spend the day finding some peace of my own.

Got up to 40 yesterday and now, of course, the roads and driveway is full of ice. I did see a guy going for a walk yesterday on the way to work so that gives me hope I can get out there today.
