Default Topps 200% Redemption Replacement

Saw some chatter about this, figured I'd pop it back up.

For those unaware, Topps now gives us the opportunity to request a replacement of our redemption if it's been over 6 months. They'll determine value and offer 200% of that value. I was given the option of store credit, cards/product, or a combination of both. I opted for cards/product and gave them a list of things I'd be interested in.

Anyway the redemption I had been waiting on for 6+ months was a Randy Orton Topps Chrome Gold Auto /50. I was surprised I could even request a replacement because this card has hit the market so I wonder if he only returned some of his cards.

Topps determined I'd receive $400 in value which I was more than happy with. I told them I was a Yankee fan and grew up on the core 4, also loved Aaron Judge, and that I'm a Maryland Terps fan and was interested in Derik Queen stuff...

Well, I just got the shipping notification and checked my Topps portal. I'm due to receive a 2025 Sterling Awards Auto Relic - Derek Jeter /25. Card isn't in hand yet but I am absolutely thrilled with their selection. So yeah, if you have pending redemptions >6 months that you're willing to forgo, this might be a solid option for you.

Question because I have an outstanding Randy Orton auto as well that I'd like to get replaced. How did you request the replacement, by phone or chat? Just wanting to know the easiest way to get a hold of them

I submitted a Kristian Campbell redemption and it's been forever so i requested a replacement. I haven't heard back from them on options yet but this is intriguing if they are being very proactive on making it "better"

I used the live chat function on the website. This made it known I wanted a replacement. My pending redemption moved into a "replacement requested" status. Then within a week or 2, I got an email stating what they were offering and to reply back with what I was interested in.

Though I've read that some people have the request replacement option right on their portal. That wasn't the case for me

A few weeks before Christmas I requested a redemption on a 2 year old outstanding card (2023 A&G De Niro). I went through chat on the site and the CS rep asked me if I had any particular players I was looking for and said that he'd pass it along in the request. On Christmas Eve I received the replacement (2021 BB Heatwave Ohtani Auto), which I was very pleased with. Unfortunately the card had some hard-to-see but significant damage so I reached back out on the 26th. Within a week they not only replaced it with a similar card that I was also happy with (2021 Heritage Ohtani Auto), but provided a sealed box on top of it due to the inconvenience.

I've had more than my fair share of complaints about Topps - QC, collation, website (kill me) - but major props to them for how much their redemption program has improved over the last year or so. I have nothing but good feelings about how they handled my replacement request.

2021 Topps Triple Threads

I was pretty sure I was going to end with about $15 total in cards from it, but it had a Rickey Henderson 1/1 that saved it and then some. Normally I wouldn't open any high risk products like that, especially when most of the rookies in the product are hobby dead at this point. Glad I talked myself into it.

This is one of the key things Fanatics has done right in this space, redemptions have always been such an issue. Nearly abandoned ship when they replaced my #1/1 Griffey Five Star jumbo patch auto with a Bryce Harper Tier One auto /30 and told me to screw off when I complained and told me it was final. Sounds like they are at least making right on current replacements which is a positive

I despise seeing Harper in anything I open. That would have been the end of me

Wanted to follow up on this as I requested a replacement for my Randy Orton Chrome Main Event Auto. They gave a $250 valuation on it and my replacement will be a Paul Skenes Bowman Chrome auto. I'll definitely take that!

I have a big Juan Soto that I am sitting on hoping he has a great start to the season. I would prefer the card, but it’s been greater than 8 months waiting. I don’t think I will ever get it.

Hopefully the replacement will be worth it if it comes to that

My question is why Topps/Fanatics still has these cards available to offer people as redemptions replacements. These are ALL cards that are supposed to have been packed out.

Topps shouldn't have any 2021 Heritage Ohtani autos sitting around!!!

I mean 2021 is before they expanded to the 10 year window for redemptions, so I can totally see 2021 Heritage redemptions not being 100% redeemed, as no way all of '21 Heritage was ripped.

Got it.....so you think they're using unclaimed redemptions from the past to fulfill current redemptions that people want replaced?

I guess that makes sense.....
