Question Will the 2025 NFL regular season be remembered as the worst placekicking season ever?

Well, will it? Sure seems like it was. But maybe not. Hence the question and the pole.

And don't get cutesy and mention Scott Norwood. That was during Super Bowls doofuses.

I said regular season.

If yes, provide a theory why you think so and who the worst offenders are/were

If no, provide an explanation why you don't think it was

(I made this multiple-choice, so feel free to click #4 in addition to your choice, EVERYBODY WINS!)

No - we have kickers hitting historically long FGs on a regular basis at this point.

Does anyone really ever remember anything about kickers?

Fairbairn tied the NFL record with 44 made FGs this year, and did so in 15 games played. 35-35 within 49 yards and 28-28 on XPs.

Millennial kickers just can’t handle the stress.

True, there is no denying that Cam Little (68 yds & 67 yds) is the needle in the haystack, then there are others like Chase McLaughlin (65 yds), and Brandon Aubrey (64 yds) who are great.

But there are so many more bad ones too, every week we see kicks missed badly and in high pressure/stake situations too

More than I can recall in recent years

But your question was will the season be REMEMBERED for the worst placekicking.

Think nearly all fans will remember the past season when it comes to the kicking with the great distance ones. Kickers went 12 for 22 on attempts over 60 yards, last season they were 4 for 15

2025 had the third highest % of field goal accuracy for the season (85.6) behind 2023 and 2013.

2025 had a tie for highest % of extra point accuracy for the season (95.9) since they moved the extra point back in 2015

Kickers are useless. Get rid of them all.

I will remember this season as the year that Jason Meyers became the Seahawks all time leading scorer.

This was the 3rd most accurate FG year for kickers, with the 2nd most ever attempts from 50+. It was also the best year for kickers on extra points since the XP was moved back 15 yards.

So not only is this not the worst year ever for kickers, it is argubaly statistically the best.

Whatever OP is smoking, less puff and more pass, sir.

Yeah but there have also been a lot of bad kicks too. I have even heard NFL broadcasters/pundits say that the kicking this season was amongst the worst they have seen. But in that same breath, they'll mention the increased 60+ yard makes

Maybe I saw too much of Yunghoe Koo shanking it left and right and doink balls off the cross bars

Maybe because your kicker had a down year? He did have a 65 yarder though.

Randos voting that the OP is a NN, MM, doofus or all three is what I'm here for.

I wonder if, if the quarterback career doesn’t work out for Tanner McKee, he could become a successful placekicker.

Some college QB's have done it successfully, Mike Vanderjagt and George Blanda for instance.

Discuss

Don’t forget getting his foot ate up by the grass before he could even kick the ball.

John Harbaugh concurs with this assessment.
