Lightbulb Value Check: Larry Bird 1/1 Auto

Hey everyone,

I have a 2024 Panini Origins Universal Autographs 1/1 of Larry Bird (on card) and I was hoping to get some insight into its current value.
Since it’s a 1/1, I know it’s a pretty rare and hard to comp, but I’m curious about what you guys think of its value.

Details:

Set: 2024-25 Panini Origins

Card: Universal Autographs 1/1

Player: Larry Bird

Features: 1/1, Autograph on card

Condition: Mint / Near Mint. Never left the original Panini Case

Photos:

I would really appreciate any value assessments or thoughts on this card. Thanks in advance!

Cheers and happy new year

Normally I'd assume a Larry Bird auto is really cool but as I got more into the hobby I realized how staggeringly non-liquid the 80s guys are compared to Jordan/Kobe/LeBron.

Looking at comps for other huge Larry Bird cards, a logoman auto 1/1 went for $31,000 this year so you would be working backwards from there.

The pros of this card are a bold on-card auto, vertical orientation, and obviously a 1 of 1 stamp.
The biggest con of this card is the graphic design, it does not really stand out in a showcase and nothing about it compliments Celtic pride in any way. On top of that (this could just be my opinion as a picky high-end collector) Panini in general as a manufacturer that rings second fiddle to Upper Deck's licensed era. This Panini Origins set in particular does not carry the hype of Flawless/NT either.

If I look at other cards that a Bird or 80s basketball maniac would love, I see /75 Limited Logos selling for around $7k-$12k. I see NBA licensed Magic/Bird low number autos selling for $12k as well.

At gunpoint, I would estimate this card would sell for anywhere from $6,500 to $10,000. If in a PSA 10/10 slab then $20k. If someone offered you more, immediately sell.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news (not sure what you are expecting value to be), but it's probably around $500-$750. It's a parallel 1/1 from a mid-end product. An Immaculate 1/1 auto just sold for $700, so I'd honestly guess below that. Still an amazing card though!

Where are you seeing these comps? I looked at everything in 2025 on CL

I don't think much changed since you posted this thread.

My guess of $700-$1,200 remains the same.

Here's some card ladder 1/1 comp sales of higher end releases, there's no way you are touching these levels with a non patch mid-tier panini IMO.

I just searched Larry Bird 1/1 auto on eBay's completed listings.

Thanks to everyone bringing in an opinion!

@Kingofsnake: Thanks for linking it - I actually tried to find it and couldn't with 8 months of content in between. As you can see from my number of posts (also compared to yours) I'm totally new / unknowing around here. I'm sure there are ways to easily dig it up - I'm just not used to it as I'm not familiar round here. I'm glad you took that into consideration and cut me some slack about it.

Tell mwf94 you'll sell it to him for half of what he thinks it's worth.
