San An curb stomps the presumptive repeat champs, then follow it by getting routed by the Jazz. The laws of transitivity are both wonky and unkind.

Cavs starting Dean Wade over Iron Jaylen Tyson shows me the organization has zero intentions of winning.

Giannis played well and he's a good guy. But that dunk at the end of the game was trash. He's better than that. Smh...

I do think it’s time for Sochan to move on. Hasn’t been right this year. The Jazz took control of the game when he was inserted up 7. I know it was bc Fox was out but still, Mitch could have pulled him earlier. The second quarter was a blood bath. They tied it at 106 and Mitch sticks to his guns to sit Vic after a rally and the Jazz regained momentum. Growing pains I guess But at least the Nuggets loss keeps them in second

Yeah I really didn't understand the hype behind him his rookie year. I think they wanted him to be some kind of future Draymond hybrid. But it just doesn't fit right on a team that's already overloaded with guards.

Shot out to Keldon. He's been on a heater.

It was just my luck that I actually turned the game off just before he did that, so I missed it. I saw a clip of it later and I'm hoping it's more of a one run off type thing.

I might be able to understand that he's frustrated and he wants to try and physically and mentally get going again, but crap like that will never actually accomplish anything.

Personally, as long as that doesn't happen again I won't read too much into it myself, but Giannis has been in the league long enough to know not to do that, plus more negative media attention isn't what he wants or needs right now.

He was the only player who even showed up for the Cavs tonight. I was curious to see how they would play after their loss to the Knicks, and well we got our answer.

Terrible team with terrible coaching. Mobley giving 4 points off the bench didn't help much either. Whole team is in disarray.

I don't understand how they are this bad with almost the same team as last year that won 64 games. They are only 2 losses away from their total last year. Doesn't make any sense.

It’s unbelievably bad. The only thing I have to say is that the players are just soft. Nobody on the team cares about winning other than Tyson and Mitchell.

Allen should have been traded 2 years ago when he had value. Mobley is one of the softest dudes on the court despite being super talented (and I was right about him not taking a leap without being able to shoot)

Garland is always hurt (soft) and the depth is just meh at best.

If I were the FO I would be trading Allen, Garland, Hunter for anything you can get.

I’d also look into trading Mobley to restock your 1st round picks and some different young talent.

Unlike others I don’t think this is totally coaching. I don’t think Kenny is a bad coach. The player core is just not good together. Yes JB was a terrible playoff coach but we’ve seen plenty from these 4 guys and they’ve never been able to do anything when it matters

We’re going to miss him when he’s gone.

I wish he’d had stuck with one team for more of his career.

It makes me feel slightly better about the Wolves losing at home to the Nets.

I think the rebound set him off. The games over, why is coby edit white trying to steal the ball.

Magics need to bench Paolo Banchero at this point. Everyone else on the team has been playing better then him. Also Anthony Black looking like a MIP candidate .

Rockets lose to the bottom feeders in the west, beat the lakers then the cavs

Makes sense

Really think they need to hand the keys to reed at this point, offense looks way better with him out there

Can you please explain why this unwritten rule is so offensive?

That Hunter trade was not good. Bad contract the Hawks had been looking to move basically since he signed it, and Cavs bit after he went on a heater for a couple weeks. Cost them all their expirings as well as roster flexibility. I guess next year is the last year of the deal at least.

There has been an unwritten rule for decades in the NBA, that when the game is clearly decided / a blowout, the winning team should simply dribble out the remaining seconds of the game. Attempting anything else has always been viewed as disrepectful to the losing opponent.

I'm already aware of it, I want to know why it's seen as disrespectful. How does extra points for an opposing player affect their game when the game has already been decided? I'm seeing more and more players break this unwritten rule and I'm glad, it's a pathetic thing to be upset about.

It is not a rule introduced or policed by the league or fans; it is solely one the players have chosen to invoke over the years and handed down from season to season, generation to generation. The players are simply saying 'we are professionals and this is one of the ways we respect each other'.

And that is before we even get into the subject of stat padding during garbage time.

Again without trying to sound hostile or anything, I'm aware of its origins. In the end the other team has already won the game so I don't see how it affects players on the winning team if an opposing player chooses to score instead of letting time run out. If they're butthurt by it, maybe defend till the final horn?

I personally have always viewed it as nothing to do with me; as it is simply an agreement between the players in the league.

If I was a player arriving in the NBA and was told by my peers - opponents and teammates alike - that there is a longstanding agreement amongst my fellow pro's, that you simply dribble out then end of a game to show respect / sportmanship to my opponent, I personally would simply follow the unwritten rule. The odds are that I am going to be on the same team with any number of my opponents at some point in my career and I would rather be seen as someone who players the with respect and is a 'team player' rather than someone who choses to ignore the views of his fellow professionals as it suits my personal circumstances.

But if another player wants to ignore it, I would probably just shrug with a 'you do you' view.

Like J said, they're a super soft squad that vastly overperformed last year with unsustainable offensive efficiency. But their lack of physicality got exposed big time in the postseason. Zero progression in any of their players with actual regression from Mobley and Dgar. Not what you want to see out of a team with *preseason* championship aspirations. We're not even at AS break but I have a hard time seeing their ship get righted this season. Scrappy squads like Detroit and NY should throttle them rather handily.

Can Thomas flu game. No shame in that.

edit: may have to redact my 8-mile love affair pending this first half result. Either that or the Clips have suddenly ascended now with Brolo taking Ivanka's spot....
