Well, so much for the Yankees bringing King back.

Teams really don't want to sign anyone with a qualifying offer. I can see the players fighting to get that taken away in the next cba.

Another slow moving offseason. I despise waiting until the following year for any big signings or moves.

I really wonder what takes so long in these negotiations. If you're a team interested in a specific player, you have to know by now what they are asking for and what the competition is to the point of making an offer.

Yep agreed but Hal would rather sit back and say the price was too high. Oh well another wildcard season.

Its because there is no cap in mlb. For the other sports, the contracts are pretty much set ahead of time its more a matter of where they want to play.

No one wants to make the first move and set the market too soon. The more time ticks the more desperate teams become. At least thats what Boras thinks.

Does it seem like every year there is a Japanese flavor of the month coming over to MLB the Yankees sit back and do nothing until these players finally make up their mind on who they are going to sign with? Naturally, once they don't choose the Yankees, it's too late and they've missed out on signing other players that could help the team? The same thing happened with Yamamoto it seems. I think Hal should give up on them or start pushing to change the system to make them enter the regular draft.

I didn't hear the interview so I don't know if Arod didn't explain what was wrong with their philosophy or The Post just didn't detail it. Love to know that information.

Agreed pretty much. Only Tanaka and Matsui were worthwhile.

Didi Gregorius several years ago mentioned the problems. Seems like nothing has changed. It's probably just the over emphasis on analytics, launch angle, exit velocity etc. Guys like Volpe suffer because they need to learn how to get on base. MLB pitchers know that Volpe can't their stuff so they just pound the strike zone and will live with the occasional HR.

I think the only way they sign Bo is if they lose out on Bellinger and Tucker. I'm not sure if that would sign the ending for Jazz and they would trade him so Bo could play 2B where I'm sure he be better defensively than he's been at SS. I think Bo is still better at SS defensively than Volpe (at least it looks like it when you watch games) and his bat is definitely better.

This is pretty much how hitting is taught from basically youth travel on up.

I agree none of the moves seem like they will make them better.
