Of course the bigger names were harder to hit but I managed to pull a decent amount, also had my fair share of Gage Workman's but you didn't have to take out a second mortgage to do so back then.

I have no proof, but I have 2 thoughts based on observations over the years.

1. There's something about the way shipping works. It's not that they have allotment of certain cases that they make sure go to certain breakers.... but it's more to do with all of preorder shipping. These tend to be loaded with bigger, lower numbered cards.

Something about the order in which cases get loaded into the warehouse and then grabbed for presale shipping. My local LCS doesn't get a high amount of volume anymore, but the few cases they do get prior to release to be ready for release day always seem to be loaded with monster cards... then future waves of the same product they receive tend to be less and less impressive in terms of what comes out of them.

2. Pure volume. They received TONS of cases preorder and probably opened close to 100 cases yesterday? It's a numbers game. And if any part of my first hypothesis is correct... the preorder cases seem to be more fruitful based on how the product comes off the line, gets packed, stored and shipped out the door.

Either way... would LOVE to see a full audit done by a 3rd party company to see if my first point has any truth to it

Got back into opening wax in 2023. The ROI in 2025 flagship and especially chrome seems to be exponentially worse than when I started. This years chrome and chrome update arent even fun to open and that's even when you expect to lose.

I watched the replay last night. 3 debut patches in 4 boxes. Odds of that happening naturally are essentially impossible.

Absolutely hilarious that Fanatics own website can have a lottery for hobby and jumbo for $220 and $440, basically no one wins, and the very next day pallets of it for sale for $350 and $700 per box. Why even bother having the lottery?

Usually, these bums at least wait a few weeks. This was 1 day. Just like every other time, they list for above market value too. Can't even sell for market value. They are the new BO. List for $350 and $700 when they are available other places for $285 and $575.

Whether it was intentional or not, Topps and Fanatics want to create the perception that a high-number of big hits are being pulled from a product on release day to create FOMO and demand.
