They had to complete the investigation - that takes time. Once the findings were established beating OSU wouldn't have saved him. Yes, they probably fudged it a bit to get past signing day but it's cut-and-dried issue from the standpoint of the University - trust me, I work at one and we have mandatory online certification every year about this very issue.

They didn't have to worry about that scenario. I just feel there is no way they fire coach before playoffs. They would have sat on this and dragged it out until the season was over.

Both MSU and UM coaches only lasted two seasons.

Didn’t Bo Schembechler have issues too. Cheating allegations around Harbaugh but at least he dipped for NFL. Hopefully Michigan hires someone with integrity this time.

I saw two tweets, one from November 30 and one from December 1, which perfectly exactly described today’s news.

Kalen Deboer - this seems like the popular one. Don't know why he would leave Alabama and the SEC for Michigan. Unless for big dollars.
Jedd Fisch - Washington coach who was assistant for Harbaugh. This would be the traditional "Michigan Man" pick?
PJ Fleck - Please no, I want him to move from Minnesota to a big program, but I would be forced to root for Michigan.
Jason Eck - Coach of New Mexico, don't know anything about him.

It's a rough situation and barring some sort of miracle hire we're headed for a bad couple of seasons at a minimum. The AD might not make it through today!

ASU's Dillingham is another one I've read. While Fisch is better than the ones below him in the few Washington games I've watched I haven't been too impressed

This was Eck's first year at New Mexico and he did an amazing job turning that program around. Set so many attendance records. Prior to that, he was at Idaho where he did the same with that program. Both my kids are at Idaho and we went to games when he was there. Not saying he's right for Michigan but Jason Eck is an absolute stud and will be at a top program in no time.
