Lunar Box is simply a Hot Box. It is in the same form as regular hobby boxes.

Man, I really need to talk to whoever is the project mgr for Cosmic - they've really screwed up my Mariners Cosmic rainbow runs the past couple of years.

Last year, no Logan Gilbert. This year, no Kirby after being in every year since inception but they add Bliss & Williamson?? Also no Bryan Woo. Then they removed Julio from the Launched Into Orbit die cuts (but added Cal which is cool), so there goes my PC of PSA 10s of each year's (I'll still be able to add Griffey though...). Ugh.

At least they didn't do the BS they did last year with having four separate players have two base cards - Pablo Lopez, Brent Rooker, Jordan Lawlar, & Evan Carter. Like...what were they thinking? lol

It'd definitely be cool to bump up the checklist to like 250 base and include some legends. They do a good job of mixing them into some of the inserts but yeah, it'd be fun to see that like they did with the NBA Cosmic.

Haha, I have no intention to rip 20 boxes.

I plan to flip most (ideally to cover cost) then hold/rip the rest.

But, if they send me a sealed case + 2 loose boxes in each of the two 10-box orders, I might sit on a sealed case too.

Also, the amount of cases of this being opened by fanatics live breakers is absurd. Theres like 25 live right now with what seems to be dozens of cases each.

I really enjoy cosmic so jumped in a break with Layton and getting some pre-order boxes delivered today. Only 3 autos in the case and although they got a sp as well I am not impressed this year at all. Not sure I even want to open my boxes coming as these feel like they should be sub $200 with contents I saw in very small sample size of course.

I had no desire to open rest of my TC Update boxes after ripping one and now this with Cosmic might finally push me past the point where I have any urge to buy or open any product from Topps

I love the aesthetics of these cards. I have 10 boxes coming. Think I’m gonna open two and sit on the rest. I’ve seen cases yield only two autos and the planet cards seem way more spread out this year. Last year you’d see 3-4 per case. Now it’s max of two (if you’re lucky). Although I guess the obvious answer is less boxes per case. It’s a fun set though. Just yeah, just so expensive - like everything else at this point

A couple of the boxes he opened were absolute trash. Even the gold Trout auto he opened won't come close to paying for the box he opened it in.

Most of the base inserts in this set have no value, and Packman was right when he talked about $30 case hits. It's very much not a Bob Ross set where the base cards have value. And because of that, if you just look at 2024, if you don't hit a #'ed Ohtani, a Planetary Pursuit (realistically one that's Jupiter or higher), a card that's /5, or an auto of one of the handful of biggest rookies, I don't know how you can clear $550 in a box of this stuff. Some of the boxes I've seen opened have like $30 worth of cards in them.

It's still my favorite set, but that's waning - I just love the themes, colors, designs (I blame 90's Metal Universe...). Last year it felt worse and this year a bit bleaker again. I opened several of my pre-ordered boxes last night and hit two autos in the first two boxes so I was happy. Then after that, pretty much as expected per box, a couple #'d, some inserts, maybe a better SP insert. The worst box had literally two of what I would define "good" cards - one Blue and one Green Refractor, everything else was base or super common inserts.

No way this should've been a $330 PRE-ORDER product, with big retailers now listing at $550+. Insanity. I'm curious how much they'll be when Topps lists them on their site soon. Oof.

Presale prices were $357/box after tax. I'm sure it is still hard to get close to that number in value, but $357/box is very different than $550/box

There are certainly a lot more $300 cards than $500 cards in this set. A lot of the big name vet #'ed autos are going to fall in that range for guys like Trout, Soto, BWJ, et al, along with their red /5s of various things.
