Couldn’t say if there’s anyone else actually going for a whole set of them….it really is an almost absurdly dumb project. Especially in this climate with so little coming to market.

At this point I call it a win if you can finish it at all. They dried up so fast and almost no new ones have come out in the last 2-3 months. Hopefully there’s a post Christmas boom. Man that would be a great Christmas present, a case of retail 2024 mm platinum ‘92. A man can dream can’t he?

I had to go digging pretty deep in FB groups to get a few recent ones (that Night Thrasher was one). I normally stick to eBay/comc for buying singles, but to put together a set like this, it has to basically be from all corners…FB, reddit, here, social media, even Mercari for one I believe. One thing I haven’t tried is Whatnot…just not big on that.

Well the other avenue of course is trying to get them ripping wax. Funny enough I pulled just 2 (of the 88). Rest were all singles. The blaster boxes around $50 on sale are tempting, but just doesn’t make sense to do. Let’s say the purple vc’s are like 1 in 50 boxes, based on guesstimates. Needing 12, even if I could pull one somehow, it would only be a roughly 12% chance I need it. 50 boxes is $2500 to pull one on avg. Divide that by .12, and it’s about $20,000 spent on avg to pull one I need….ha! I think it makes a ton more sense to patiently wait. What I do hope is these $50 blaster box/$1k blaster case sales might spur at least a little blaster openings, so more purple vc’s can get out there.

My two blasters that have been stuck in the mail since Black Friday finally arrived.

No purple crystal VC. For anyone taking notes cards were all on one side of the divider.

The Good: One Purple Crystals was Iron Man. The other was Apocalypse.

Beat the odds with 2 clear cuts- Nova and Rogue.

4 Canvas and the expected number of Rainbow.

The bad: One Corner Box Creations heavily damaged. I already know not to try contacting UD after my box with 3 missing hits.

I did get a Rainbow Spider Man as well.

Ive basically given up trying to get a vc in a handful of blasters…it just doesn’t seem to ever happen.

Dave and Adam increased the prices for the hobby boxes and cases, that sucks, no more box opening for me.

I guess I’m out of the loop since I rarely bust wax of this.

Still haven’t gotten over paying full preorder price of $300 per box for 3 boxes when it first came out to end up with like 2 pink lasers, a red prism, and a holofoil. $1k for $30 worth of cards. That annoyed me for wax opening with this set.

I remember that -- that was brutal. It was a rare instance of a popular product's box prices dropping after release -- Upper Deck printed a lot of it, as you were able to calculate at the time.

Yep…never would I have dreamed the price would be cut in half in a matter of weeks. That kinda discouraged me from preorders in general tbh, but I realize like you’re saying it’s a rarity the print run was so enormous with this for that to happen

About $155 per box, they did a $5 off for black Friday.

I got burnt that way on Spider-man metal AND Fleer Ultra Avengers. It really is criminal, I can't believe they're allowed to fluctuate and inflate MSRP like that.


Anyways I'm sure they will sell out again and magically more will appear months later. It always does.

Bought Captain graded. Have to send the other 2 in. Found that '94 silver x-over at a comic shop for $5. I was in shock.

Picked this one up the other day, more for the novelty than anything else, as I collect oddities like upside down graded cards.



I do think it’s an error slab, but after posting it in a FB group, someone made an interesting comment, that people can specify orientation when submitting to grading, but I thought that was just like if you wanted the front vs back facing for dual sided cards (like 94 Flair Marvel Powerblasts or if anyone remembers, 1997 Topps Interleague Finest baseball cards which were 2-sided). For those who are bigger graders than me…would someone be able to specify an upside down card like the above when submitting and they actually do it? Or would this have to have occurred as an error by BGS. Because that difference is meaningful to me and if anyone can just get an upside down graded card at will then I won’t spend as much of a premium when they do come up.

I opened a blaster this past weekend to find a single pack placed on the other side of the divider…..
I got super excited that I finally landed a purple VC only to find a rainbow Mephisto inside the pack. I did have a regular purple Night Thrasher in another pack.

Sadly here to report that a pack on the other side of the divider does not automatically mean it is a purple variant. Guess I’ll keep buying blasters for now!

Dang, bummer about the lack of purple vc.

That does help with that info though, and confirms my similar experience from like a year ago (couple blasters having 2 packs on other side…zilch purple vc’s).

This does not preclude that when there is a purple vc inside, it has the pack on other side thing going on. That would still be interesting to know, as it’s kinda rare to open a blaster and see that. Whether that is true or not, I can’t say.
