2025 Allen & Ginter Hobby Case Break Recap

Instead of waiting for my preorder case, I decided to crack one from the shop last night, big mistake.

Collation was normal, I made two master sets and was close to a third, missing only a few SPs. QC was mostly good, a few dinged corners here and there and some light scratches on some of the silver foil cards but nothing to get upset about. I was shorted a hit in one box and a handful of packs were missing the mini cards.

Minis: No numbered, 2 no number minis of Winn and Moreno, and a Black Kurtz was the best. Chrome minis were one per box, Jackie, Rickey, Banks and McGwire were the best ones. 15 Birds, 12 Fish, and around 10 each of the other insert minis in total.

Chromes and Refractors: 3 chromes and 1 refractor per box again, Jacob Wilson and Sasaki refractors were the better cards there. One Xfractor of DJ Mighty Mi, Green of Dylan Crews /99 and a Purple of Julio /75 were the parallels of the chromes.

Foil Filagree: 15 total with Mantle being the best one. Did well on the parallel filagrees, they look nice. Larkin Gold/50, Gwynn Orange jersey # 19/25 and David Ortiz Black /10.

Relics: Plain relics, 5 of one type and 4 of the other. Two parallel relics, a Sandberg Orange 12/25 and Alexis Ohanian Red Patch 2/5. Six framed relics, Julio and McGriff were the decent ones.

Autos: 4, Locklear, Conine, Greg Jones and Shay Whitcomb/99. Pretty stinky.

Rip cards, both /199: Warren Spahn and Gunnar, the Gunnar has a metal mini in it. Didn't rip it yet, I'm not over my original disappointment yet.

I've ripped Ginter every year and started doing cases in 2023. This one was hard to stomach at the elevated price and reduction of hits per box. Probably my last case for a long time. If anyone wants to see pics let me know. Be well!

are you guaranteed 2 rip cards per case? I don't think so but at least you beat the odds on those

Honestly might as well rip them considering how bad that case was...maybe a big ohtani is hiding in one of them

I think it has been two rip cards per case most years. I'll rip the Gunnar with the metal eventually but will hold the Spahn for my rip card PC.

Oh my, that is rough. Thanks for sharing. I can't imagine spending $$$$ on a case of 2025 A&G and the best hit is probably a mini metal card, yikes.

imho, 2022 was the final year cases were loaded. I bought a case of it back at release and I came out of it with a ton of hits, 5 rip cards including a Rickey Henderson Box Loader Triple Rip Card, and a #'d /10 Mariano Rivera Autograph Relic Book Card w/ Game Used Patch

I'm afraid those days are over!

Yup, it's too bad. My first case was a 2023 loaded one with similar cards, a Fossil, 1/1 Glossy, Triple Rip, etc. It's been all down hill from there. I mean, this was fun to open. I save all the hits for the end but after organizing and typing the OP I was surprised how little there was for the amount of money it cost. Not that I didn't expect a loss going in.

I’m out on the product this year. Jacked up the prices and cut the hits from 3 down to 2.

Not worth the return unless you hit a monster.

the biggest hit out of the mitchell and ness boxes is a $5,000 shopping spree

would be cool out of a $25 product but out of $150?!?!?

Out of curiosity, I just pulled up my order info of my case of 2022 A&G, it shows I "only" paid $1195 and applied a $10 coupon so it came out to $1185

$1999 ($2,000) for a case of 2025 A&G, minus a hit per box (I didn't realize Topps/Fanatics removed a hit), so that means 24 hits now per case, as opposed to 36 hits per case in previous years.

I am behind you 100%. Crap like this really kills my love for this hobby
