I still think pool says no. But I’m incredibly depressed it’s a question that people could reasonably put forth, even as a joke

Absolutely brutal to watch every LFC game right now. But it’s a train wreck I can’t take my eyes off of, hate watching every minute lol. They are just dire in every department. Worst run of form since the 1950s and no sign of turning it around - with one of the few bright spots, Ekitike, hurt today. I have a bad feeling that it gets worse before it gets better. Slot had some credit in the bank still but it’s running out fast. Not confident he sees 2026.

I think Liverpool have made a bunch of mistakes, all of which are now coming home to roost....

Like Man United, they hired a manager having success in a 2nd-tier league, but who had no experience in any of the big four leagues (EPL, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga).

Then they overestimated the value of last year's title....as other's have noted, they won with a pretty low point total....they would have finished 3rd/2nd/3rd the previous three seasons with 84 points.

And then they totally botched their offseason, overpaying for Wirtz (like Chelsea did for fellow German Bundesliga wunderkids Kai Haavertz and Timo Werner a few years earlier), signing both Eketike AND Isak, when they only needed one of the two, and then failing to sign Guehi (the player they actually really needed) by trying to nickel and dime Crystal Palace.

Is it just me, or does nobody actually know how to play goalkeeper anymore?

This week we've seen three "sweeper" keepers come out of their box, totally screw up, and give away easy goals (Newcastle @ Marseille, Sunderland vs Bournemouth, Spurs vs Fulham), yet at the same time goals are being scored from point-blank range off of corners because keepers are being taught not to come off their line, even for crosses inside the six-yard box.

It's like playing as a sweeper has become more important than actually stopping shots.

Christ.
Crazy how bad he's been. Who is the last big signing to come over from Germany and light it up in the Premier League?

Edit: Immediately Werner, Pulisic, Havertz, Schweinsteger, and Sancho came to mind as flops. But Haaland, KDB, Son all did well. Mixed bag. Seems like some really recent bad ones though

Edit2: Googled and forgot about Keita too.

I don’t think it is fair to call Pulisic or Havertz busts. Might take time to adjust, but Wirtz will be fine. He is too good not to succeed.

Other notable Bundesliga transfers: Szoboslai, Konate (recent form notwithstanding), Firmino, Aubameyang, Gundogan, Gvardiol, Van de Ven, Mateta, and Sane.

Wirtz literally man of the match the other day. He’s looking bright. He will be okay.
