Default The Sort of Far Too Early Topps S1 2026 Discussion Thread

Time for conjecture.

My short thoughts:

It’s going to be the Topps 75th edition of baseball, so I expect Fanatics to go big. Lots of buybacks, contests and giveaways.

Lots of throwback inserts.

Printed to the high heavens.

Hopefully lots of vintage signatures.

The obvious focus on Roman Anthony (yeah, I’m a Sox fan.)

Looking forward to the design. Usually around Christmas, right?

This topic shouldn't be brought up before 2025 Stadium Club has hit shelves. After that, we can chat.

Flagship will sell no matter what they do, so why would they bother to put in any extra effort.

The key factor will be the card design....

Define “focus on Roman Anthony.” What do you feel that they will do different for him than other star RCs in S1?

We should probably start titling these complaint threads instead of discussion threads.

My first complaint is Topps printing 2 million cards every day of the week. I'm not exaggerating.

It feels like we've been talking about Series 1 for at least three months.

One thing I'm looking forward to is back-to-normal Silver Pack Refractors. I didn't like the 1990 design with the color on the inside. 1991 and 1992 are solid designs before it drops off for a decade.

Didn't they wait until like mid January this year to reveal the base flagship design or was that 2024 ?

Maybe we get it sooner so people will know what Football will look like to get that hype train rolling.

700 million cards a year? That's it?
Pokemon says they will print 12 billion cards this year

I'm looking forward to the 1991 autos, particularly if they follow what they did with the 1990 ones in 2025 Series 1 and include quite a number of guys who had rookie cards in 1991. Chipper, Bagwell, Pudge, Thome, Pedro, and Mussina would all be must-haves for me, and there are several others I'd like (Knoblauch, Mo Vaughn, Luis Gonzalez). I'm probably forgetting a few as well.

As an aside, is 1991 the high mark for HOF rookies in products with 6?

I hear Fanatics is going to honor Topps’ roots for the big anniversary and will be printing only base cards with a white border design.

No inserts, no parallels, no chrome. No blacks, browns, yellows, oranges, reds… they are killing everyone this year. But probably just for this year.

No word on autos, so I’m guessing they print all the bass cards to the moon and then will get a small portion signed to create some hits. Could still be image variations too, I suppose.

That would be great, if they price the product reasonably. But they won't.....

Thats probably the only way they could get me to buy flagship.

I always find it interesting when people say Series 1 is over printed. It is DESIGNED the be available everywhere for everyone. It is the brand anchor and the most anticipated set of the year. Print the heck out of it.

The problem Topps has now is that flagship is everywhere and they are horribly behind on basically all of their secondary product like Stadium Club.

That would be shocking since it undoubtedly would cost them money.
