I’m currently at #212 (of 34,749 current sellers) and my goal is to crack top 100 by the end of 2026…

I guess I'm 117th, but ranking sellers based on their SRP listed for sale is a ridiculous way of ranking "sellers." For one, SRP is worthless. You can up your ranking by buying 1,000 2 cent cards with $2.50 SRPs, so for $20 you can get on the first page.
Here's some stats to actually judge sellers on. Did they actually sell a volume/value of cards on site? Year Total Sales # Sold 2025 $27,082.49 2,904 2024 $27,936.73 2,617 2023 $24,041.75 2,678 2022 $39,687.39 4,231 2021 $50,593.11 5,315 2020 $48,741.80 5,596 2019 $33,814.47 3,732 2018 $23,139.44 10,860 2017 $28,442.09 12,299 2016 $18,837.96 8,229 2015 $10,228.17 8,555 2014 $130.68 51 Last edited by mjohnatgt; 11-23-2025 at 03:39 PM. |

I'm at 71k this year in sales (about on par from last few years) and I'm 66th on the SRP leaderboard. Also says I've only been a seller since 2019, so its not super accurate haha. |

Way lower than you guys lol.
I just wanted to see if I could sell 100 cards this year. So far at 303 sold at almost $1k sold price! My first year taking selling more serious, and I think it's gone alright. Figuring out a strategy and focus was the hard part, but I think I'm good in the short term there. Next phase is slowly dabbling in $20+ and $100+ cards to add more variety while sticking with my current focus. Will need to figure out other markets soon. Ultimate goal is 1,000+ cards. Or possibly buy in bulk to sell locally via shows Almost no one sells Marvel, but at the shows the sellers who have them, get somewhat cleared out. |

I think it's an excellent idea to set primary goals and secondary goals and try to achieve them. If not SRP, then number of cards in stock, number of cards sold, total asking price, number of different cards of certain players / sets / teams, etc.
Start wherever you are and work your way up. Maybe at some point you try to sell 1 card per day and at least have $1 in sales per day. Or 1 per week. Then work your way up to 10 cards per day and $10 in sales, and go from there. It's also worth considering what you would do with a card if it doesn't sell. Do you send it to auction? Do you take delivery? Do you blow it out for 90% off or 1 cent? Do you sell it in a port? The answer to these questions can guide your decisions. With the recent changes to COMC's shipping prices, it makes a lot of sense to create bulk shipments of precisely 500 cards. You pay $19.99 to create the shipment, and you pay the handling fee of the cards (usually 25 cents), but you don't pay the additional 25 cents per card that COMC now charges. This works out to about 29 cents per card, or $144.75 per 500 card shipment if you're buying in Advanced Reseller Mode. Personally, I like to consider price boxes at a show. Suppose you are set up at a show with a quarter box, a dollar box, a $3 box, and so on. What sort of cards do you put in the dollar box? What kind of rookies? What kind of inserts? What kind of vintage? What kind of players? To avoid the trap John speaks of - where you buy 2 cent cards just because they're cheap, consider buying 2 cent cards which you might actually pay 29 cents extra to have delivered, and which you might put into a dollar box at a show, or that you might bundle into a multiple card lot on some venue such as eBay with an average asking price of $1 per card. When you think in those terms, it's often worthwhile to pay a bit more base price to get a better card. Another thing to consider is that if your COMC account is sufficiently large, that it is worthwhile to upgrade your account. If you pay $50 per month, your free storage thresh hold goes from 75 cents to $2.50. This gives you an advantage over smaller sellers who are paying 1 cent storage fees per month to price cards at 76 cents or more. Often times they will price cards at 75 cents or 74 cents so that they don't have to pay storage fees, and there are lots of flipping opportunities in such cards. In the opposite direction, you might decide to restrict your account to a certain number of cards, and no more. Suppose you have 1,000 cards in your account average value $1. You might decide to stick to about 1,000 cards, but later on, your average value is $2. Then $5. Then $10. Then $20. Then $50. There are all sorts of things you can do. |
