My Recent Wild Card Haul - 4 Boxes and Single Scoops

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

So, it's no secret I have been priced out of Licensed football for quite some time. But I love the sport of football and opening packs, and with a limited budget of about $1,000 in my PayPal, me and a buddy of mine and his 13-year-old son visited an LCS a few weeks ago, and lo and behold as I stood by watching he and his kid rip a box of 2025 Pro Look Football Metallix, he pulls a Matthew Stafford red ink 1/1, and damn if I think to myself, you know what, those cards he pulled don't look half bad. (I can't say the same for the Monsters, Dinosaurs, Splats and other goofy backgrounds, but those are made for the kids/hopeless degens)

So, since seeing my buddy's box contents and how cheap a box of SIX autographs was (Less than $200), I have purchased a few singles here and there (dirt cheap scoops! ) PLUS 4 hobby boxes (Two 2025 Metallix, One 2024 Auto-Mania All-American and One 2024 7 Card Draw High Stakes Edition), each box around the $170-$200 mark.

TWENTY-SEVEN autographs for way less than the price of ONE 2025 Panini Prizm Football Hobby Box, and with the chance of pulling an On-Card Patrick Mahomes Autograph? (2025 Metallix has Mahomes autos)....

I'm in.


Truth be told, pretty hard not to be excited about this stuff. I was not a fan of it when they first started up but it looks like they changed their designs and configurations of the earlier releases, and I have since changed my tune after seeing them in person.

Again, I could have easily spent $5,000+ on Panini, Bowman and Topps boxes, retail and hobby and never been able to pull out of the boxes the names that I did, for a small percentage of what the licensed stuff costs.

For the price point, this stuff is solid. So what if it's unlicensed and air-brushed, so is Topps Composite, etc and I think this look way better. And besides, I am more of a collector than a flipper. I proudly own Mahomes, Drake Maye, Daniel Jones, Jordan Love, TJ Watt, Nick Bosa, Christian McCaffrey and Jared Goff unlicensed Leaf Metal Draft/Valiant rookie autos, so unlicensed is ok with me.

Each box delivered the case hit 1/1 PLUS TWO ADDITIONAL 1/1's each for a total of SIX 1/1's (Great names - Sam Leavitt, Bryce Underwood, Ashton Jeanty)
