I already had the day off. I've been working extra hours each day. I've never worked the day after Thanksgiving since I became a government contractor. It's my employees I feel bad for as they want to work and save their leave to actually go on vacation instead of being forced to take a day off because the prime contractor bid horribly and have lost $20 million+ on this contract.

I completed a course today that would be necessary for a job that Mrs. FT doesn't want me to try and get.

Her ex-husband no longer wants his current job which sees him travel around the country for weeks or months at a time managing the contractors that construct SCIF's and Clean Rooms for US Government facilities. He's being moved within his company to a local-only job. I told her I would love that job and she asked him if they were hiring for his old job. He said they were and I would need to complete this one class.

Now she's mad that I want this job. She's always known that I'm a traveler and that I hate living in the same place for years. She was talking about all of the stuff I would miss in FT Jr.'s life; although the ex seems to fly home plenty of times. I told her the money would really help us out (all that per diem I could bank for food and not traveling myself) and I think it might actually improve FT Jr's attitude and relationship with her. Not to mention, I could always fly them out during spring and winter break and summer vacations to the cool places I would go (not that when he went to oldgoldy land it was cool though).

I just think overall the job would be good for my health and the money would do us good. I'm tired of being in a dead end job with crappy management holding me back. I like the small team I manage, but we never accomplish anything. We finish a ticket and there's always another one waiting for us or the same person a month from now. With this job, I would manage projects that have definitely end points that transition and it would feel like my team actually accomplished something.

You sound like Mrs. FT. She conveniently forgets that from October through March, I'm usually home every weekend since there are no parades or conventions (close by). There maybe one Saturday a month or less during that time period that I'll go do fire station photographs.

Had a spot open up in the 11-13 league, so I called the first person on the waiting list. The mom said "I'm so glad, he wanted to play. I'll be down there to sign him up and pay the $30". I had to break it to her that the cost went up to $45 this year. She's out of work and had been holding the $30 back in the chance a spot opened up. I told her I'd take care of the $15 difference. I'm not going to make a kid not play over a small amount of money.
