Gonna be a real shame...if Vandy wins next week in Knoxville...ends up with their best record in half a century...as well as highest ranking ever...

But loses out on the CFP to a lower ranked ACC champ, outside Power Conference teams, or potential 2nd Big 12 team

Kinda weird...the CFP committee has Miami the de facto champ slot...when they need a hail Mary to even make the championship game...

If Vandy wants to leave the SEC and join the ACC or one of those other conferences, they can. No one is making them stay.

I personally don’t feel bad for any of them. They like to brag about how tough the league is, then complain about how tough the league is. They keep welcoming in the tougher teams like Texas.

We already have an SEC championship. It would’ve be silly to have a second SEC championship tournament.

Just saying it'd be a shame and I'd feel kinda bad for them.

Perennial SEC punching bag...finally has their greatest season in the past 50 years or more...

Only losing their 2 games to a top 10 team and top 15 team by 17 total points.. meanwhile, the team ahead of them has 2 losses to 2 unranked teams..or would also miss out due to North Texas, James Madison or the like

And that's ONLY IF, they go into Knoxville and beats UT...no easy task

I know rules are rules etc...just my opinion that ID feel kinda bad for them

I was talking more so about "the rules"...because if it was just the top 12, they'd likely be in with a win next week..

If it makes you feel better, I agree. I like seeing the non-bluebloods succeed and a 10-2 Vandy sure has a powerful argument - but would need a lot of help.

I am looking at the schedule and standings and have noticed something very strange has happened this year:

Going into the final week of the regular season, no team has clinched a berth in their respective CCG.

(I may be mistaken on the above but can't see any situation where a team has clinched)

Vanderbilt has beaten zero ranked teams, I don't have them beating Tennessee anyways either.

They were not competitive vs Texas for most of the game, they needed a miracle 4th quarter just to make it close.

That said, we could end the regular season with 8 P4 teams with 11 wins or more which seems astonishing to me.

Factor in another 8 that could be 10-2, it's shaping up to be a wild end.

Welp 9-2 as expected after the Pitt game. Think I even said ranked #23. Cant imagine GT has much of chance in this game. Could be 9-3 out of the top 25. Hoping for chaos. Rivalries are fun though

The Denton Dominators are punching their ticket to the American CCG next week against (probably) Tulane or (maybe) Navy.

We just don't know how the PC ranks North Texas against James Madison but I suspect North Texas is higher - and would likely be higher if they beat Tulane.... although the AP disagrees so who knows....

It'd be funny to have 3 teams from Texas in the playoffs and none of them named "Longhorns"....
