FED’S COOK WARNS OF POSSIBLE MARKET DROP

Fed Governor Lisa Cook warned that high valuations in stocks, corporate bonds, housing, and leveraged loans increase the risk of sharp market declines, though she said the financial system remains resilient.

She highlighted liquidity risks tied to hedge funds’ growing role in Treasury markets and said private credit isn’t a stability threat but should be monitored. Cook added that AI could both improve and destabilize markets, noting that its impact requires close watch. She did not discuss monetary policy.

Also interesting

Auto repossessions are now its highest since 2009 and the U.S. now has a record $1.7 trillion in auto loans.

Meanwhile, U.S. subprime auto loan delinquencies are its worst in 30 years.

Auto loan balances declined by $13 billion, and now stand at $1.64 trillion, only the second time since 2011 Q2 that auto loan balances have dropped from one quarter to the next. That $13B drop? That’s repos, charge-offs, and fewer approvals, not financial health - per Bloomberg

Crazy day yesterday, saw momentum was still to the down side but wasn't expecting that much so got out of puts wayyyyy too early

We all know why the sell off intensified

Took a starter based on what I saw and it actually worked out (didn't sell though), pushed back up 50 points from entry but crashed back down. That also why I bought time (3/31) we'll see if they recover

I also didn't realize BTC dropped that much

Wasn't paying too much attention to it

I underestimated how much exposure Fannie and Freddie ("F2") have to crypto, not on balance sheet, but in their shareholder bases. Run a correlation between F2 and bitcoin and you will see what I mean.

Forced liquidations and margin calls in crypto are leading to F2 share sales in the market. We don't own bitcoin, but clearly in the short term, we own a stock market proxy for bitcoin.

In the short term, the technicals can overweigh the fundamentals. F2 are a case study of that phenomenon.
