Unlicensed. It would be multiple licenses to actually secure the rights.

However sketch cards being original art lead to a lot of leeway in what you can do, I believe. Things get more clear when you start making prints or base cards with licensed images.

Not a new product, but certainly a rarity.
Adam Hughes sketch card (and a recent convention sketch for price/value comparison.)

Okay, the Horror sketch cards dropped today.
Only 100 boxes total.
$100 gets you 2 sketch cards.
My only concern is if the blank sketch cards were signed by the actors BEFORE the art, then the spacing on the card may be weird.

From what I can tell, there are at least four different Topps Disney sketch cards:

the black, gold, silver are tiers. black is the highest and most expensive, followed by gold then silver and i think blue and purple. each tier is assigned to a particular artist. topps picks the artist who they think is fit to it’s qualifications (mastery of style, anatomy, color, perspective or backgrounds etc ). So it’s like a rate per card to a particular artist. the princess cards are specified cards for Disney princess only (topps gives a list for this). the snow man die cuts are also your regular cards . So almost every topps set, you will see black, gold, silver, blue or purple tiers on them.

Such a weird choice for a set. It's been public domain in the US forever, so I guess no licensing costs. Still weird.

This has probably already been announced (and I just missed it), but a new Red Sonja set drops Q1 2026.

Philbo Distribution is a distributor of independent comics that sprung up after the Diamond bankruptcy. Extremely niche but enough people care for it to be plausibly sustainable.

This looks to be the same group that made Hollywood Legends and Horror Legends.

Saw this post on Facebook.
What does it mean “back when it was still Finding Unicorn” …
does this mean the company is now over & gone?

I'm not certain what happened with Finding Unicorn. They used to have a FB group that was just Finding Unicorn artists and sets, but several months back the group name changed to be that of Curious, A Creatives Company (the header image says it is the first sketch company in the Philippines).

Unfortunately the group seems to have all sorts of posts far outside just those sets or artists, so it's hard to say.

That group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/curiouscreatives) is run by artist Jeffrey Benitez. He probably knows the history there. I think he was admin back in the Unicorn days, too.

Side note, as I was scrolling through the group posts I saw someone ask something about people still waiting for payments from Unicorn. I guess they potentially did have some issues...

The unsubstantiated rumor is that the guys that ran Finding Unicorn were the same ones that ran Typhoon (you can find Typhoon sketch cards on eBay). And yes, both companies never fulfilled all their artist contracts.

Got it. I know Benitez as an artist, so my hope is he is just an admin of the group and not part of any of the financial shenanigans.

I love how they have some artist pages with scans of the actual cards. Reminds me of the old Rittenhouse days when they used to as well (though they removed them years ago for some reason). Not all artists' cards are shown, but as an example:

Ugh.

Not helping my theory about breakers getting the loaded boxes lol.

Also surprised the Hollywood trading cards are still up given how they promise
"Inside Every Box

• One hand-drawn sketch card autographed by a Hollywood celebrity

• One hand-drawn sketch card signed by the artist"
So basically getting 2 sketch cards for that price.
While unlikely a person will get the case hit...

Ben Affleck
Harrison Ford
Johnny Depp
Sir Ian McKellen
Chris Hemsworth
Chris Pratt
Sir Patrick Stewart
Natalie Portman
Benedict Cumberbatch
Ewen McGregor
Margot Robbie
Dick Van Dyke
Laurence Fishburne
Samuel L. Jackson
Liv Tyler

…and MANY more surprises still to be revealed!
Are some of the names listed.
