I also saw a Star Wars card (an auto) on there I'd won previously on eBay. I returned it as it was damaged and looked nothing like the photo they used on eBay.

It had been relisted on Snype... with the same image of the card undamaged

what a load of garbage, the site was dead.

I won a couple of items on there for peanuts, and hours later I still had no way to pay for them, they didn't show up in my purchases either. Only way I knew I wasn't dreaming is that the listings were still in my history.

They don’t call him SlickRick for nothing.

Why am I not surprised.

So are you suggesting they pulled this b/c not enough action? It's sure what I'm thinking. Not that it's certain, but it's where I'd put my money.

They can generate action just as easy as taking the site down, and only one of those results in sales and commissiin. So I don't think this is anything other than Goldin-like auction performance.

You could see the latency whilst navigating the site. Any time of day.

You might say the site LOOKS NICER than it is?

"All impacted listings will be cancelled and relisted"

I bet most of the auctions that ended too low will be cancelled and relisted.

I was winning stuff for like $14 that would be going for $80-$150 on eBay.

Gone up in smoke now though

Actual won auctions or just "winning" with time left? Because I think the bids on a site like this are coming mostly at the end.

Regardless, I do think the site malfunction was to protect the listings. Not a good start.

Sounds like the issue was their software that allows for snipe ("snype") bids ended up putting in those bids and ending the auctions early. I don't think the cards were going for low amounts, the auctions just never got to conclude. They have to completely revamp the software.

I would bet that ALL of the auctions that ended yesterday are cancelled and re-listed.

The software was not operating as expected and bids were not being executed.

The entire website needs revamped before they start running the auctions again. It was "buggy" all week even without increased traffic. And the user interface is cumbersome to say the least.

Potential issue:

Auction starts at $10.
Bydder #1 byds $50.
Bydder #2 byds $100.
After $100 byd is placed, watch the count of byds increment one by one....it goes up by the minimum increment, outbid, increase by min increment, outbid ... eventually after ~20+ automated byds, it settles at $52.

Ebay --> one jump, it calculates next min bid amount $52 based on the $50 bid

That series of byd outbyd byd outbyd byd outbyd byd outbyd ... unneccesary API calls?

Yep. I noticed that while bidding earlier in the week and thought "this is definitely going to cause an issue around the time auctions are ending".

There would be thousands of unnecessary API calls every second during the auction closing.

No reason for the system to operate that way except to make it look like an item is getting more bids than it actually is. An item can only have 2 bids placed on it (one bidder bids $100 and one bids $125) and it will show the item as having 70 or so bids.
