For those who are interested in this set, my apologies for eastbay’s responses here.

He’s been too busy trying to flip boxes of products he has little interest in for $20 of profit each that he’s forgotten that there are more interesting cards in the hobby that he could have been collecting for enjoyment instead.

I think there’s a real interest in rare ultra modern inserts right now. Could be a fad, I don’t know, but I think it has to do with people seeing what rare Jordan and Brady inserts go for. The other day a Witt Strokes of Gold PSA 10 sold for $192. I found that surprisingly high considering: non-RC logo season, ~96 print run, and a high gem percentage. It just seems like people are looking for ways to invest/collect outside of 1st Bowmans and RC cards.

I think the natural progression for many of the new collectors who joined the hobby during the pandemic is to try to obtain what others don’t have - initially they bought those prizm silvers and chrome rookies but gradually realized that everyone owns ten of them.

Evolving your collection to the point that you desire what no one else has is a great progress, and I agree that is what we are seeing now. In other sports, the case hit card prices have sustained well to my surprise, but I think those new collectors weren’t just satisfied with that Wemby prizm silver or that Skenes topps chrome auto - now they are chasing the really challenging and attractive issues, like the strokes of gold and other rarities that very few other people have.

Kind of like the late 90’s basketball and baseball serial-numbered inserts. Everyone has a Jordan or Griffey rookie, but how many people have a Jordan pmg or a Griffey essential credentials?
