They are the same price! $15. Oversized items are larger than 3 ½ " x 5 ½ ". Anything under that is considered standard.

As discodanman45 said as well, it's the same cost ($15) to grade tall boy cards. No extra cost, and you can submit them on the same order as all other standard cards.

I'm a little before you, mine was received "officially" a couple days before that, and still waiting. Just hit 20 business days, and it's still in in the received status.

Mine was received 9/24. No movement after that.

You will, most likely, never see another special from SGC. October's Gem Rate numbers for SGC continue to fall, with them grading about 50k last month. Considering PSA has pulled most of their graders over to their side, SGC just barley has what it needs to keep the lights on.

Used to, but what tmoore_25 says. Collectors has zero incentive to give SGC more cards. It sucks, but SGC won't have any new slabs, flips, registry, etc in the future either. At some point in 2026 (maybe before the National?), they will announce "The customer has spoken, SGC is only doing 35K a month in submissions and we feel like it is not in the best interest of Collectors to keep support of the brand. The SGC office is closed." The best thing would be for SGC is for them tobe sold off to somebody else and let that company build it back up. They have already accomplished the goal of a buyout, stripping away all parts needed to gain a Florida office with seasoned graders (especially vintage).

Sadly, yup. It's a safe bet to assume that thanks to Collector's Universe, things at SGC will continue to get worse, not better.

The smartest thing for CU to do is to just keep SGC afloat. If they really do shut down SGC, it will play right into CGC's hands. To be honest, I am surprised CGC hasn't done more to try to get SGC customers. Slabs for tall boys and other larger sized vintage would be huge. Andy Broome has some expertise in pre-war and I trust him more than PSA, well that isn't saying much.

My order is still just "received". Argh.

Order Submitted: 09-30-25
Delivered by USPS: 10-03-25
"Received" status by SGC: 10-09-25

Still just "received" and it's now the 22nd business day, after taking a PSA style 6 days to "receive" it.

This is definitely not the SGC of old. This sucks.

I agree. I sent in 2 cards, one that will be a christmas gift.... I mean, I'm glad I sent that in super early, but I would like to make for absolute sure I'll be able to get it before Christmas. (Yes, I am being overly dramatic )

Nat is paying overtime to the remaining SGC employees to NOT work.

Be grateful you only waited 6 days to get the "receive" status. PSA is backed up more than 30 days to "receive" bulk orders.

If we keep submitting cards to SGC watch the 6 days to "receive" extend to 10 days, then to 15...Nat is going to make sure we stop using SGC. If we don't that day will come where Collectors sends out an email that SGC is no longer accepting subs.

Yup.

Based on the gemrate numbers, SGC isn't grading much these days. So Collectors Universe probably told the experienced SGC graders that they are now working for PSA 4 days a week, and they only grade SGC orders on Wednesday or something. That would explain the longer turnaround times (compared to the pre-NAT SGC days) and also why gemrate numbers can be way down at SGC, but turnaround times haven't improved.

Just like you said, the "received" time will take longer to eventually match PSA's incompetence, along with an inevitable price increase to match PSA down the road and really make grading with SGC less appealing to the masses. Congrats, Nat.

Hows your order moving along? I have a few handfuls of Vintage I'd like to submit still.. but remain hesitant.

I have two orders in progress and both are slow (by SGC past standards).
One was "received" 10/9 and the "received" 10/28.

Both took about a week to get logged into the system.

Normally, I would say that you should just submit to SGC since PSA is terrible for vintage, but I want to see what kind of grades I get back after PSA has taken over the SGC location in Boca. For all I know, incompetent PSA graders could be grading SGC orders now. Who knows. I'll report back when my grades are ready to see if there's a noticeable difference in SGC grading accuracy/consistency.

Might be that the 5 guys they have set aside for SGC subs work only on Wednesdays now from 1 to 6 and the rest of the time are across the hall doing things for PSA.

That's my guess as well.

Someone online posted this reply from SGC when emailing about why their order was taking so long:

If that's a legit reply, then it's basically what we all assumed in the first place. Sucks.

I’ve been grading with PSA for 5+ years, but about a month ago sent my first sub to SGC.

Man has this thread (especially this page) been incredibly helpful. I had no idea any about this current SGC situation until my order seemed to be behind pace. I checked here and found this thread, and have to say this is really disappointing.

Was looking forward to sending more to SGC (due to the much quicker turnaround time) but it looks like that may not be the best idea.

There have been some edits in my entries, so hopefully, it'll get to grading soon. Looks like one card they can't find/won't grade.

Can't say I'm surprised, PSA really is where they make their money and SGC at this point is an additional cost to them. The two I have at SGC now will probably be the last two things I grade, it seems, unless I find some immaculate Hands Team variations to replace the 8s I currently have (highly unlikely, especially the gold version).
