Default Cryptozoic Dark Nights: Metal

I just received an email that said:
CZPlus Dark Nights: Metal is available now at Hobby Retailers.

This is the first Cryptozoic set in over a year.
• CZX Crisis on Infinite Earths Trading Cards (released 1/19/2022)
• CZX Middle-earth Trading Cards (released 10/19/2022)
• Outlander Trading Cards Season 5 (released 9/6/2023)

Good luck to those chasing Jim Lee.

$250 a box. I was surprised they don't sell from their site but I'm not familiar with CZ. (Not interested in this release but I'm concerned the Conan set due soon will be out of my price range.)

Cryptozoic never really sells hobby boxes from their site ... they have always sold to distributers.

They now have three different "price points":
• regular hobby boxes
• CZPlus
• CZX

This CZPlus is brand new, and I couldn't have guessed $250 a box until it was released.

Is the DC license shared with Upper Deck or is this their last set?

I don't know; but they have been announcing it (in Non-Sport Update magazine) for a while. -- Cryptozoic previously had this same license "Dark Nights: Metal" for a Board Game, so they already had the contacts.

Some loose cards on ebay, some of these cards look cool.

The price point on this set is frankly atrocious. Nowhere near enough value in the boxes for $250. Some of the sketches coming out of this are also well below what any sketch collector should expect to pull from a box this expensive. Crypto really missed the mark with this set. I had high hopes for this one.

Three hits, a plate, a sketch, and a numbered.

I checked Cryptozoic's website before buying, 12 boxes in a case, 2 hits per box, and 9 sketches per case. So the odds are fairly good to get a sketch, and this case I lucked out by getting a Batman sketch.

It’s odd to see two different companies putting out DC stuff at the same time. Seems like pretty much every other license gets locked up exclusively with one company nowadays.

What made this set difficult to collect is that there are THREE 1/1 cards.

Brilliance Cards:
Batman Variant Red Brilliance: Black overprint symbol and Red crash numbering to 1 (Base, Chase Sets 1-2)
Batman Variant Red Brilliance: Black overprint symbol and Gold crash numbering to 1 (Base, Chase Sets 1-2)
Batman Variant Black Brilliance: Black overprint symbol and Black crash numbering to 1 (Base, Chase Sets 1-2)

I've picked up two different to check the colors:
