Default Gamestop PSA order

88 cards TCG at Gamestop
Created 9/27
Shipped 9/29
Received 9/30
Arrived 10/14
Processing 10/17
Research and ID 10/23
Grading - never updated. Straight to assembly
Assembly 11/3
QA 11/6
Graded 11/6
Ready for pickup

My gem rate was 11% this order. Big mistake trying to grade Pokemon celebrations.
Also seems like PSA standards have become more strict since I last graded.

Wild. I had great luck several years back grading the full art and Classic Collection from that set... but don't think I ever found a "base" card worth submitting.

I submitted 1961 topps baseball cards via GameStop the same timeframe (3x 10-12 card orders) and they’ve been sitting in research and ID for a while now. Fingers crossed my timeline is somewhat close to yours and I get my grades by thanksgiving

Interesting...typically vintage is in a separate "line" and takes much longer to get through compared to all other kinds of cards. Will be interesting to see if vintage sent through GameStop would be quicker.

My guess is that it would be faster, but it would be more interesting to me if the vintage grades were accurate.

A gamestop batch likely has modern TCG/Pokemon as the majority off the order, so I don't have a lot of faith in that same PSA grader knowing the intricacies of vintage sports cards, and you'll likely get slaughtered on the grades, but they'll get returned faster. Win?

If I had to guess … my vintage baseball cards got scanned into the system and then shuffled to the “vintage card guys” to grade and will sit for a long time because they aren’t Pokémon cards. 0% chance the Pokémon grader is doing 1960s baseball cards. Research and ID is likely shuffling things to the right grader. I doubt all graders are looking at any / all submissions

I would think that all orders stay together, breaking up the orders by card type would be a logistical nightmare. I would just think that you will not get the most accurate grade, could hurt you could help you. PSA is going to prioritize $$$ and efficiency rather than giving you the most accurate grade.

I'll take that 0% bet all day.

There's no way PSA is breaking up batch GameStop orders to different graders that all need to be shipped back as a batch to the same store in a tighter turnaround than standard bulk. Just no way. Why would PSA single out vintage and have a separate grader work on these....to give you accurate grades? Ha! PSA doesn't care about vintage sportscard grading accuracy or consistency, they care about flipping those burgers faster and in high volume to get the orders out the door and make $$$$. Money is all that matters to PSA. Sports card collectors in general are a lower priority to PSA, and vintage Sports card collectors? We mean nothing to them. Just ask what they (Collector's Universe) are doing to SGC right now.

Your Gamestop orders for PSA are being graded by the same grader for sure.

Still waiting for cards submitted July 3. Is that normal?

Cards submitted July 16 already back.

My most ready to pop order is still in QA after a week. My previous one was QA for maybe three or four days. There is one card in the order that would be subject to upcharge with a 10 but that grade would be somewhat unexpected.

I have 2 orders that i handed to PSA on July 15th, they put them into research and ID on August 6th which made for an estimated completion of Nov 6. One order is in grading and one is still sitting in research and ID. I emailed PSA last week for both orders, and both emails they responded saying that my order was actually dual and the estimated completion on the website was incorrect and to add 10 more business days to the order... I was simply going off the estimated completion date on there own website. They also said they were within the estimated completion date window, as well as "these are estimations not guarantees", we will work hard to get your stuff done.
To be in research and ID for 3 months with no movement and only be told "all is well, its just an estimation" is wild to me. If it were in assembly or QA then okay but, neither are close, especially the one that has not hit grading yet. The serial numbers on my order in grading are 124 million, meanwhile my gamestop orders that come back a couple weeks ago are serial numbers in the 130 millions, such a huge gap. I am okay with PSA taking the full allotment of time on the submission but at this rate its going to be many more months until completion.

I just called PSA about my 2 orders. I was only on hold for one minute. They said there's nothing they can really do until its past its estimated completion date, mine has 10 more days left on it even though the website says 65, its actually 75 for me. Once that time hits, they can call operations and put a rush in on the order to get it completed faster. He also explained that at each step they can see when the order was started and how long was remaining on the estimated completion, if an order is like ours that can trigger a rush completion as well.
The guy I spoke to was very nice, wrote down my order numbers and said he would try to get an update for me by Friday. At least i can compliment the customer service experience.

Then my vintage cards should have already been graded with the other people that sent off trading cards. I’ll take the other side of the bet lol

They charged my card this afternoon. It was strange that it took them that long to do the charge but my guess is they wait 48 hours from offers from their partners. No upcharges, but some weird grades. Still had about $1000 in offers and accepted $400 of them.

When you submit cards to PSA through GameStop, the turnaround is just around 2 months or so. Are you saying that when you submit vintage cards to PSA through GameStop, you get them back much later, like 4-5 months, unlike other people that submitted TCG?

That hasn't been the case for me at all. The only "vintage" card I have submitted through GameStop were two 1981 cards. Both came back in that same two month-ish time frame via Gamestop. Much faster than submitting on my own.

I didn't experience any delay with my order that had two 1981 cards. But maybe that's not "vintage" enough? I dunno. I completely gave up on submitting true vintage cards to PSA, I wouldn't know. But everything logically states that there's no way they're breaking up orders and then parsing them back again with different graders. As the other poster said, that would be a logistical nightmare.

I sent mine in through a LCS. It’s been in QA1 since 10/7. They posted they had gotten a 100+ person submission back two weeks ago so I was hoping I was part of that. No communication at that point so I emailed the shop to see if they know more and I haven’t gotten a reply in two days. I will probably go there this weekend to ask in person.

I wish I got the name of the guy I spoke to on the phone, that order moved from research and ID to grading today then to assembly about 2 hours later! To go through dual psa/dna grading in just a couple hours and to assembly in one day, is wild. I did get 3 cards in the order that were no spec info, no grade no charge, 2 of those were 1995 finish line Dale Earnhardt autographs that they have slabbed other copies in the past, but no grade, no charge, I won't complain about it. Probably will send those to CGC.

Here is at least one case where if you call psa, and are nice to the customer service reps, they can potentially help you out.
