I echo a previous commentor when they said they printed these to the moon. Very difficult to pull anything less than /75

Here are the results of Jumbo box 6 of a sealed case:

Diego Pavia Yello /350
Chris Brazzell II Yellow Diamond /350
Keyone Jenkins Aqua /325
Tucker Gleason Aqua Diamond /325
Luke Altmyer Green Shimmer /99

Autographs:

Whit Weeks Base Auto
Darian Mensah Base Auto
Reggie Virgil Base Auto
Max Klare Refractor Auto /299

The odds are only about 10% tougher than last year so any increase in production was modest over 2024. I haven't looked back to 2023 or 2022 to see exactly how that production level has progressed over the years.

For those fans of set building and collation, anecdotally, my hobby case only included one base card of:

35 Alina Barnett
41 Caden Veltkamp
72 Zabien Brown
106 Elija Lofton
135 Justin Marshall
145 Owen McCown

Possibly others, these are just what I noticed on the first pass.

Was an interesting hobby case for me. All saved by one box that had the deans list and Sorsby. Rest of the case not noteworthy. This base card with the chrome not set correctly was sitting on top of a underwood /325 that was also beat up with dimples/print lines. Product is still fun to open but they should have cut a couple of the /225 and /325 type parallels and a couple of the auto subjects. Wouldn’t be surprised to see the case prices drop below presale levels.

I am actually surprised that the price has fallen. Never really went up either as release day was approaching, came and went. Interesting to see how my Hobby case goes, at that price, maybe pick up another!

If anyone is ripping large amounts and would be willing to sell a 1-200 base set, please shoot me a message with what you're looking for pricewise.

Great break! To me the Superfractor Autos are the coolest cards on the market!

I bought a blaster and struck out on hits. I wish this and all products had a hit % known with chances of getting a numbered or auto. I’m starting to just skip these junk retail products with terrible odds (looking at you Topps chrome). I’m sad that I feel like BUC is headed there also. Talk me off the ledge with actual numbers and odds.

If you're buying a single blaster expecting something fantastic, you're playing some very long odds.

BUC isn't there, nor is it headed there. You can get hobby boxes under $150.

Buying a blaster of this, and complaining, kind of tells the story IMO.

Default I guess I was lucky.

I bought a jumbo hobby box at the local shop and it wasn't crazy expensive. I ended up with a Dante Moore on card auto gold /50. Funny enough, I got a gold lava /50 auto of him back when I bought some 2023 BUC.

What is going on here, the price of boxes and cases if cheaper than the public buying direct from Topps?

Maybe I worded this poorly but what I am getting at is it feels like blasters as the way to go are getting a bit diluted for numbered cards and autos compared to years past. I have bought 30 plus blasters (and megas and hobby too) every year this product has been out and it could just be my luck but it feels like I get less hits out of blasters than I used to for BUC chrome. I would like to know if others think the same which is why is asked. What "story did I tell" that you heard?

This stuff probably should be around $110-120 per hobby box with this checklist and the production.

Fun to open thou

Retail is a losing proposition for hits. Save your money for hobby SKUs.

I would but my wife thinks spreading out $40 a week over 12 weeks is cheaper than spending half as much on a hobby product that has to be ordered because...well just because. She doesn't really do the math but like many people small expenditures get overlooked while larger ones represent a problem with a hobby. Honestly for ease of purchase I would also choose to do decent retail products or skip most things since here are no hobby shops near me. I think some retail products are fairly good for hits compared to hobby also. Last year when the megas guaranteed an auto for BUC it was probably fairly close with a standard hobby. This year with no guaranteed auto I am guessing it will not be.

You have to sit her down and explain the economics of case breaking. BUC is one of the very few products left that are tenable for an individual to break a hobby or Jumbo case, keep some cards, sell the rest, and not get totally annihilated.

In many ways my wife of 22 years is a saint. When it comes to economic sensibility she certainly is not. I wish this would work but all it would do is enlighten her to the cost of the smaller expenditures over time and attempt to limit those. But you are right in a perfect world that would be the move. Instead I am left wondering if the smaller investment is fun enough to bother without regard to the better investment of hobby. I will get hobby this year but I think I will skip retail altogether unless megas show something special in place of the lost guaranteed auto. Over the years I have pulled the following highlights from blasters or megas only

Autos
Kayshon Boutee 1dt
Dillon Gabriel 1st
Drake Maye 1st
Drew Allar /50
Joey Porter Jr 1st /199
Nick Singleton 1st
Dani Dennis Sutton 1st /75

It's a tough trade-off. Back circa 2013-2019, I used to do multiple cases of each Bowman Baseball release. Now, the price of a single Jumbo case is more than 4x what it once was, so I bailed on that. It was so much fun, but now it's out of the question.

BUC FB is still at a low enough entry point to make it feasible to break a case and do OK, but you often have to hold back on a few guys until the NFL Draft, which tends to be their peak value - also, these cards generally tank after a player has cards in an NFL uniform. Sometimes you can get burned when you hold (see Allar, Drew).

You can either spend on retail and get more cards but very few "hits," or spend on hobby SKUs and have a better chance at decent hits. Buying a case in theory gives you the case "hit" - which can sometimes by itself be 20-30% of the value of the case in a single card. Case-breaking does give you the best shot at return on your investment - it is still a roll of the dice, but less so than purchasing loose boxes.

Blowout is showing an 11/28 release date for Sapphire. No price or other details though.

I'm glad I went light on Best. I prefer Sapphire so now I have some funds to buy.
